See ya 2013! Welcome 2014!

It's time for me to wrap up 2013 and look ahead to 2014...a brand new year starts tomorrow, but first...what did I do last year?

I managed to get to my goal of reading 100 books this year. It's been a long time since I've gotten to that point, but mainly it's because my company closed mid-year and I haven't been able to find a new job yet.  Hopefully, I will find a new one soon.  Of course, that means I probably won't reach 100 books next year. However, I'm still going to make 100 books my goal for 2014. You never know what I'll be able to do :)

There are too many books for me too list everything I read in 2013, but if you're really interested - you can check my list by clicking here.

Here are the stats on the books I read...

Audio Books - 16
E-Books - 74
Print Books - 10

As you can tell, I'm almost completely changed over to being an e-reader.  The few print books I read were review requests.  There weren't many audio books either, but that's because my commuting to work stopped.  So, that might increase again next year...hopefully.

Now for the genres I read:

Cozy Mysteries - 40
Suspense/Mysteries/Thrillers - 26
Romance - 18
Fiction - 10
Non-Fiction - 6

I guess there's obviously a pattern in my genres, too.  LOL

Now for the 2013 reading challenges:

I hosted 3 of them and completed two of them.  I love series books, but I never seem to be able to complete that challenge.  There's always next year :)

These are the challenges I joined and how I did:

2013 A to Z Reading Challenge - 22 of 26 books
2013 Embarrassment of Riches TBR Reading Challenge - Total failure here, I didn't read one from my TBR
2013 Where Are You Reading? Challenge - 28 of 50 books
2013 Why Buy the Cow?  Challenge - 3 out of 12 books
2013 Finishing the Series Reading Challenge 2013 - My own challenge and I only read 5 out of 7!

These are the ones I completed:

2013 Romance Reading Challenge -  5 books
2013 What An Animal Reading Challenge VI - 6 books
2013 ARC Reading Challenge - 24 books
2013 Library Reading Challenge - 6 books
2013 Ebook Challenge - 25 books
Foodie's Read 2013 Reading Challenge - 3 books
Cruisin' thru the Cozies Reading Challenge 2013- 12 books
2013 What's in a name Reading Challenge - 6 books

The first book I read in 2013 was One Snowy Night Before Christmas by Pamela Frye. My last book of 2013 is Cat on the Money by Shirley Rousseau Murphy.

I'm not going to do an overall favorite book because it's impossible to choose just one.  Let's just say, I had a very good reading year with not very many disappointments.

Now, we're onto a new year.  I don't make New Year's resolutions because I never keep them.  LOL  Instead I have goals...

I'm keeping my 100 books to read for 2014.

I joined 15 reading challenges and  3 of them I host.  One goal is to read more books for fun, which is why I joined the Just for Fun Reading Challenge.  Hopefully I can read one a month.  That doesn't seem like it should be too hard, but with all my reviews that are still outstanding, you never know.

That's it!  I hope you all have a great New Year's Eve - however you wish to celebrate it.  I wish you all a very happy and healthy 2014!  I hope the new year brings only good things to you and your families.

After some careful consideration, I've decided to become an award-free blog. Although I appreciate and am honored by each and every award I've received, your comments and friendship are enough award for me. Thank you all so much for your thoughtfulness.
