My Review

Chocolatier Millie Swiss is devastated when her marriage breaks up.  She decides to start her life over in Paris.  It’s always been a dream of hers to go there and open her own chocolate shop.  She quickly learns that it’s not an easy thing to do.

She promotes her shop at a local food tasting event.  She’s sure this will put her shop on the map.  Unfortunately, a very well-known food critic will be there, and he’s known for his harsh reviews.  He has been known to destroy many businesses with them.  Millie fears she will get the same treatment.

When the food critic suddenly dies after eating one of her bonbons, Millie is the number one suspect.  She must prove her innocence, or she’ll lose her business and her freedom.

This is the first book in the Millie Swiss Cozy Mystery series and it’s off to a great start.  It’s always fun getting in on the ground floor of a series.  Paris is the perfect setting. The characters are fun and interesting.  Millie is a strong character and is determined to be a success against all odds.

The storyline kept me thinking of “whodunit”.  It’s filled with humor, drama and a small hint of romance. Reading this book is a great way to spend a few hours.  I enjoyed meeting Millie and her friends.  I look forward for another visit to Paris and getting to know them even better.
