About the Book
Synopsis from Goodreads:
A Snowy Celebration. A Sinister Secret. A Lie That Could Shatter Two Worlds.
Winter has arrived in Wishville, and the town is blanketed in snow, sparkle, and secrets. As the Winter WishFest kicks off with sleigh rides, ice sculpture contests, and candlelit caroling, Lyra Wells juggles festival planning with her growing responsibilities as Guardian of the Well. But when a newcomer collapses during the lighting ceremony—muttering a name long thought lost—Lyra realizes the past has caught up with her in the most dangerous way.
A hidden Dweller document is stolen. A second spiral crack appears in the Veiled Vault. And someone in town is not who they claim to be.
As Calderis investigates rising rebel whispers in Elarion and Holden tracks a false identity back to the Whisperwood, Lyra uncovers a web of carefully placed lies—one of which may have rewritten her own history. With her mother’s legacy unraveling and the treaty on the brink of collapse, she must decide whom to trust before the cold truth destroys everything she loves.
Because in Wishville, lies don’t melt with the snow… they only deepen the frost.
My Review
After all the drama of the previous three WishFests, Lyra Wells is hoping the Winter WishFest will go off without a hitch. However, things never run so smoothly for Lyra. It’s not easy being in charge of the festival and Guardian of the Well.
When a choir singer suddenly dies, Lyra and her team jump into action. They search for clues surrounding her death. It’s not long before they wonder if the singer was the true target or if the killer had actually been after Lyra. It’s a race against time to discover who is behind this and make sure no one else suffers.
Kari Lee Townsend always manages to bring Wishville, Vermont alive in this exciting series. She paints a vivid picture of this fantastical town and it’s quirky characters.
It’s a fast-paced story with many twists and turns along the way. There is some romance mixed into this mystery which adds to the enjoyable storyline. I can never get enough of Lyra, her feline familiar Vex and the rest of her friends.
It makes for a nice escape from everyday life.
