Book Beginnings on Fridays/The Friday 56 - August 14th

This is a fun meme to do hosted by Freda's Voice. If you'd like to join on the fun go to The Friday 56.

Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader.
*Find any sentence that grabs you.
*Post it.
*Link it here.

It's that simple.

I'm also joining in Book Beginnings on Friday. It's hosted by Rose City Reader.

I'm about to start this one. The excerpts are from the E-ARC.

Beginnings...

Zoey Allen stared at the framed watercolor on the wall in the conference room at McAvoy & McAvoy, Attorneys-At-Law. It had been six weeks since she'd stood at the graveside of her father and stepmother with her two younger brothers, and the shock of losing them still hadn't worn off.

From 56% on my Kindle...

Unlike Kyle, who would come home from school and go to his bedroom to do homework, Harper would sit at the kitchen table and watch her cook. And once he was old enough to look over the stove, he would ask if he could help her.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Sliding home…for a lifetime

The girl next door…

Or a grand slam love?

Baseball ace Sutton Reed’s returned home triumphant after years in the majors. When he moves next door to a troubled young man, he’s determined to help—for the boy’s sake and for the boy’s gorgeous older sister, Zoey Allen. After sacrificing everything to keep her family together, Zoey has no time for romance…even with a hometown hero. But will this unlikely combo be the home run love story they all deserve?

  1. A family saga and a light romance? Sounds nice.

  2. I'm trying to square the opening quote with the cover photo. Can't do it. My quotes are from Mr. Mercedes

Thank you for stopping by and visiting my blog! I always love reading comments and getting to know my readers!

After some careful consideration, I've decided to become an award-free blog. Although I appreciate and am honored by each and every award I've received, your comments and friendship are enough award for me. Thank you all so much for your thoughtfulness.

Due to way too many spam comments, I disabled the Anonymous User comments. We'll see if this works, otherwise I'll have to go back to word verification.
