Sunday Salon - August Wrap Up!

It's hard to believe but August is over and Fall is almost upon us. I had an average reading month. I read 8 books, all were really good reads...

The Summerhouse by Jude Devereaux
The Lie by Fredrica Wagman
Naughty Neighbor by Janet Evanovich
The Beach Club by Elin Hilderbrand
How to Tame A Modern Rogue by Diana Holquist
Confessions of A Trauma Junkie by Sherry Jones Mayo
Along Came A Spider by James Patterson (Audio)
Flashes of Glory by Elisabeth Lee

I don't really have a favorite as they were all really good. I'm hoping September will be equally as good. It's off to a good start since I already read Unbridled by Tori Carrington and loved that one. I'm currently reading Everything Sucks and am almost finished with that - another really good book.

I can't believe I only have 4 months to finish some of my reading challenges. I've kind of resigned myself to not completing all of them, but you never know. I might just shock myself. I think next year, I'll be a bit more conservative in the number of challenges I join. I'll see how it all works out by the end of the year.

I just finished watching Revolutionary Road. I have the book in my TBR and ended up watching the movie first. I was a bit disappointed. It was good, but not as good as I thought it would be. It kind of dragged in spots. Maybe the book is better.

That's my week and month in a nutshell :) I hope everyone has a great week!

Friday Fill-In #140

1. I feel tired.

2. Three day weekends are always fun.

3. Right now, I can hear these things: the TV and my cat purring.

4. It's Friday and I'm glad I get three whole days off from work.

5. The last time I had a day off was only two weeks ago.

6. I'm excited to begin this Labor day weekend.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to chilling out, tomorrow my plans include watching TV, movies and reading and Sunday, I want to do more of the same!

Booking through Thursday - Recent Big Reads

What’s the biggest book you’ve read recently?

(Feel free to think “big” as size, or as popularity, or in any other way you care to interpret.)

I don't really read "big" in size books, so I'm going to interpret this one as to big in popularity. I guess that would be "Along Came A Spider" by James Patterson. It's the first book in his Alex Cross series and the Cross series is very popular with readers.

I do have a few "big" in size books waiting for me in my TBR - the Twilight series - and the Outlander series. But...that's why they are sitting in my TBR, the size of them is a big overwhelming to me.

Unbridled by Tori Carrington

Harlequin Blaze #483, August 2009

Genre: Romance

Attorney Laney Cartwright is hired to represent Carter Southard, a recently discharged Marine. She has her hands full as he’s not only charged with rape, but suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome. Carter wants Laney’s help to get reinstated to the Corps.
He comes from a military family and intends to remain one himself. Unfortunately, he is not happy with the Marines’ conditions for his return and intends to fight it every step of the way.

Meanwhile, Laney has troubles of her own when she begins receiving threats in connection with one of her clients. Carter is determined to protect the beautiful lawyer at all costs.

Laney and Carter’s relationship takes a turn on the wild side when the two can’t keep their hands off each other. They come from opposite sides of the world – Laney is all class and Carter is from the wrong side of the tracks. He’s sure it will never work out.

The pages of this book absolutely sizzle! The chemistry between Laney and Carter is explosive. I’ve been a big fan of Tori Carrington, a husband and wife writing team, for years and this book did not disappoint. Carrington’s books always leave me with that “feel good” feeling and this one was no different. It was a quick read that I could not put down.
