First Chapter Tuesdays/Teaser Tuesdays - September 22nd

Every Tuesday Diane at Bibliophile By the Sea hosts First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros, where we share the first paragraph or (a few) of a book we are reading or thinking about reading soon. Care to join us?

If you'd like to play along on Teaser Tuesdays, just click the button above.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week I'm reading...

First chapter...

"You're doing it wrong," my mother said, as she looked over my shoulder and inspected my work on a Friday afternoon in October. The leaves had started to turn brilliant shades of orange and red and gold, but the temperatures had risen to unseasonably mild.

It was the day before my best friend Joanne Burnham's wedding. Joanne was marrying our local carpenter, Cole West, on the outskirts of town at Divine Inspiration - a charming inn on Inspiration Lake. I was the maid of honor, but my mother and Jo had bonded since the day she'd met her, so of course Jo had invited her to the wedding.

Teaser...

"Okay, folks. Who's ready for a little palm reading?"

No one spoke.

What do you think? Would you continue?

  1. The intro didn't really grab me, but I love the cover art! I'd keep going a bit further.

  5. Ah, an interfering mother. Cuz there aren't enough of those in books. I'm probably being too harsh since I only have one paragraph to go by. I would keep reading as the setting sounds nice and the cover is appealing. My associate Jax is reading this too.

  6. Gorgeous cover; I love how the mother's remark sets the scene for annoying happenings, which I can only imagine at this point, of course.

Thanks for sharing...and here's mine: “PRETENDING TO DANCE”

  10. I have a book by her from another series that I'm looking forward to reading. This sounds like a pretty fun read though I think her mother would drive me nuts!
