The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.
If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host! It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!
I'm also linking to Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews.
Happy Weekend Everyone!
July is over and now August is here. August is busy greeting us with a hurricane. How nice. We haven't had enough problems? They say to "shelter-in-place"...well, yes we know...we've been doing it for the last five months. We're now pros at it. The good thing is I didn't have to stock up on anything for the hurricane because I was already stocked up for the pandemic. I would wish for 2021 to get here, but are there any guarantees that will be any better?
I've been busy with spotlight and review tours on my blog and have a few scheduled for next week. In fact, August is booked with tours. I only finished reading one book this week. Once again, I've been way too distracted with reality to do more reading. I have to figure out a way to snap out of my news addiction. It's not doing my psyche any good - between pandemics, hurricanes and politics, my head is spinning.
General Hospital is coming back next week so maybe that will help. I get one of my shows back. That could distract me a little. I haven't yet gotten involved in anything on Netflix. I keep starting shows and never finishing them. Anyone watch The Umbrella Academy? Is that any good?
Aside from the hurricane interruption, it's been quiet all week. I guess that's a good thing. We continue on with staying home except for brief visits to the supermarket and doctors appointments. So, what have you been up to? Anything good happening in your neck of the woods?
I hope you all have a good week!

Here are this week's Kindle freebie haul. They were freebies when I got them, I don't know if they still are. Always make sure to check they are still free before buying. The prices change quickly.
I can't even imagine what it feels like having a hurricane coming your way. Yay for The Flat and Boring Netherlands I guess.
ReplyDeleteOver here the trains stop working when there is a little storm, so we really don't know what it's like.
I think everybody is quite done with 2020. Me and my friends say "I wish things are totally different a year from now" all the time, but who knows?!
I hope August brings you joy and great books!
Scary to hear about the hurricane! I hope it doesn't hit hard and everyone stays safe.
ReplyDeleteI have high hopes for a vaccine soon in early 2021 so I'm holding out hope for a better year next year. That fowl murder series looks good. I'll have to check that series out. I hope you stay safe and healthy this week!
We had a hurricane brush past us last week and now you have one this week. I hope yours is as hands-off as ours was. Maybe the hurricane has been advised to use social distancing. At least you are fully stocked for the storm.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you have been busy with book tours. Some of us have been having trouble getting into reading. Glad you are not.
Our lives are like yours. Small things these days, like the return of General Hospital, mean a lot.
I hope the hurricane fizzles out and doesn't do much damage or cause you to lose power. As for the pandemic, I do hope we get a vaccine in 2021, but I don't think it will be widely available before next summer. I hope I'm wrong, and it's sooner... but we need a LOT of doses and even once they have good vaccines approved, it will take time to get them manufactured, distributed, and injected.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new books this week, and please -- stay safe!
I posted about my book haul and week-in-review in my Sunday Post today.
Ooo, The Trouble With San Francisco. Living in SF that catches my eye. Well, we don't have hurricanes so that's something less to worry about ;-)
ReplyDeleteWe've been watching the info about the hurricane on the news. How did you do? Any emergencies in your area. So scary to live someplace with such unpredictable weather. Take care of yourself. Please join me for some good news of the week
ReplyDeleteWe've had scattered storms from Isaias so far today but nothing more than that. I'm hoping we don't get any serious hurricanes during this pandemic. I can imagine how bad this will get if we're all without power and running water for a week or more. :(
ReplyDeleteStay safe and have a great week!

It is hard to feel upbeat and hopeful when nothing seems to get better, and it's all because people in charge in this country didn't take it seriously!
ReplyDeleteWe were hopeful here because we were locked away, but we found out this week that one of the residents tested positive. How did that happen when we're on lockdown? Apparently someone came in with the virus, and infected one of us. Or a resident could have gone out, to a doctor, etc., and that's how it happened.
Whenever that happens, everything becomes even more restrictive.
I am also happy about GH coming back, which distracts me. Let's hope the actors and producers stay well so they can perform!
I am with you on how can we have hope for 2021 when we don't know it if will be gone by then.
Let's hang in there and enjoy our books and movies. I am also flipping from one show to the other, but I did watch all of In the Dark, both seasons. It completely engaged me!
Enjoy your week, and here are WEEKLY UPDATES
I'm not holding out hope for a vaccine, but am hoping that Americans can learn to take basic precautions to stem the tide. I'm not sure why this seems so hard.
ReplyDeleteYes, can we move to 2021? Hopefully the hurricane doesn't cause any more stress for you. I tend to get wrapped up in news too and that hasn't been helping my reading. Hope you have a great week ahead!
ReplyDeleteI hope you stay safe from the hurricane. Watching the news is just too depressing. We are rewatching the entire series of The Blacklist, it is interesting and almost like a new show because we both forgot a lot of stuff. XO
ReplyDeleteYou have hurricanes and we have fires. It's been quite a start to the month, hasn't it? I hope the hurricane isn't too bad and everyone is safe.
ReplyDeleteI've seen the first season of The Umbrella Academy and enjoyed it--although it was a bit strange. I kept asking my husband about the background story so I'd better unerstand it. I hope you enjoy your reading! Have a great week, Yvonne.
Stay safe! My grandpa lives in Florida, so I’m watching the hurricane too. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I hope you remain safe during the hurricane
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great reading week
I’d love to say 2021 will be better but I really don’t know.
ReplyDeleteI hope the hurricane doesn’t affect you too much, stay safe and enjoy your reads!
Ah I heard on the news about the hurricane - yes like you don't have enough to deal with. If you can step away from the news it will help. I have finally managed that and now get more reading done and just feel better. But I do know how addictive it is, so all the best. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI remember hurricanes from my childhood in Texas -- I do not envy you this one! I've been thinking about trying The Umbrella Academy, and now there's a new season coming out so if we like it we have more to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI like the look of Fowl Murder -- I will see if my library has it. Thanks for sharing!
