About the Book
Synopsis from Goodreads:
When murder crashes the party, Bea and Perry are on a mission to save New Year’s Eve…
DEATH AT ANNUAL STAFF BALL AT FRANCIS COURT
Reports are coming in of a death at the annual New Year’s Eve event hosted by Lady Beatrice, the Countess of Rossex. The ball, a tradition at Francis Court, is held each year to say thank you to the two hundred staff and their partners who work at the family’s sixteenth-century stately home and estate. The event was planned and catered for by Posh and Fabulous, the much sought after Fenshire-based event’s company owned by high-society sisters, Jasmine and Holly Curson.
Bea is nervous about hosting the traditional New Year’s Eve ball for the first time. So when the festivities turn deadly and the local police are short staffed, Bea, her clever dog Daisy, and her best friend Perry, must help catch the killer before the partygoers find out and her hosting debut turns into a disaster.
Can they unmask the killer before the clock strikes midnight, or will New Year’s Eve be ruined?
A page-turning, contemporary, clean, British cozy whodunnit with a hint of humour that you wouldn’t be able to put down from best selling author Helen Golden.
My Review
It’s New Years Eve and the annual staff ball is being held at Francis Court. Lady Beatrice, the Countess of Rossex is hosting it with the help of the caterers from Posh and Fabulous. One thing they never planned for was a murder right before the clock strikes midnight.
Bea, along with her dog Daisy and best friend Perry do a little investigating on their own. They hope to prevent the guests from finding out about the murder and turning the party into the worst of the year. They quickly learn there are many suspects.
This is a short novella that sits in the middle of A Right Royal Cozy Investigation Mystery series. I never read any of the other books in the series and I didn’t realize this wasn’t the first, but it didn’t matter. I really enjoyed it. It took me a little time getting to know who the players are, but once I did, I read it quickly.
For a short book, it packed quite a bit of story and drama into it. My plan is to go back and read them all starting with book #1. The characters are clever, funny and there’s a cute dog helping to find a killer. It’s British cozy at its finest.
