The Weekend Review - January 4th-6th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to Stacking the Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

I hope everyone's 2025 is off to a good start.  On New Year's Eve we went out for Italian food - delicious veal parmigiana and linguini.  We were home way before midnight.  Many fireworks going off, but the kitties didn't seem bothered for a change.

I finished four books this week.  I even managed to start my year off with a five star read.  My review of it (Family Doctor) will be posted on Monday as part of a blog tour.  I made a journal using my Kindle Scribe to keep track of my reading schedule.  We'll see how that works out.  I'm always making lists and always end up not using them.

Don't be fooled by my current read.  It has nothing to do with the political stuff going on today.  It's just the second book in a cozy mystery series written in 2020.

Not much new going on this week.  Anyone read or watch anything good?  I hope you all have a great week!

  1. Italian food sounds like a perfect way to bring in the new year! She Doesn’t Have A Clue is on my TBR so I’ll have to hear what you think of it when you’re done!

  2. My friend gave me an actual Reading Journal for Christmas. It's lovely, but I bet I stick to sharing my books on Goodreads.

It's fantastic that your year has started off with a great read.

  4. Italian food sounds so good! It’s funny that you had to give a disclaimer about your current read. Your haul, as usual, looks great!

  6. I know a lot of people use reading journals but it has never appealed to me. I use a spreadsheet for planning and track the reading on Goodreads. Happy New Year!

  8. I am so glad you finished a 5-star book as your first of the year. Way to make a good beginning on the year. We, too, were in bed before midnight but after what we call the New York New Year, since we live on the West Coast we often watch the ball drop in Time's Square and kiss and go to bed. Ha!

  9. Always nice to start the year with a 5-star read. I'm trying to use Storygraph this year. Italian food works so well in the winter. Hope you have a nice week!

  10. That Italian food sounds yummy. We stayed in with the pups and snacks. We never go out New Year's anyways. It's great to start off the year with a 5-star read!

  17. We had a Mexican themed pot luck at my brother's house New Years Day. I don't remember New Years Eve since it was the fourth day of having our grandchildren without their parents. I know we all went to bed early.
    Happy reading in 2025!

  18. Our New Years Eves sound very similar except we had Thai and then asleep before 10pm!

I just got a Kindle Scribe. Your idea of creating your reading journal on the scribe is a good one. I have a list but it is on Notion so have to use two devices to keep track and read on.
