The Weekend Review - June 28th-30th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to Stacking the Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

Hard to believe we are at the end of June already.  It's been hot here in Florida (which it's supposed to be), but not nearly as hot as other places that have experienced heatwaves this past week.  I hope everyone is doing well.

It was a productive week for me as far as reading goes.  I completed two books.  Both were good.  I'm not watching too much TV.  Besides my two soaps, I'm just watching Transplant and Criminal Minds.

I have to admit, it's starting to get harder and hard to write reviews.  I'm trying to do them as soon as I finish reading a book, but I've been finding myself just wanting to read the next book instead.  I'm trying not to do that, though.  It makes it more difficult for me to write a review for the book I just finished.  I like to write the review when the book is still fresh in my mind.

It's been a pretty quiet week for me.  I do appreciate these quiet weeks as long as I can get them.  I hope you all have a great week ahead.

  1. I usually take notes and highlight in my Kindle while reading because I usually don't write my reviews before reading the next book. That would be ideal, but it never works out that way for me. I hope you continue to stay cool in the heat of summer. It's been brutally hot here in Maryland. Have a great week! :)

    1. I tried to use my Kindle Scribe to make notes about whatever book I was reading, but it doesn't always work out for me. It's been hot here, but I've just been staying inside with the a/c. I hope your weather cools off. Enjoy your week!

  2. Quiet weeks are a good thing. :)

  3. It would be hard for me to stop and write a review, also. It's so much more fun to just get to the next book!

  4. I like to write a little review up as soon as I finish a book. Sometimes my reviews are only a few sentences. I try to put down the things I want to remember or my thoughts about the books.

    1. Sometimes I just put a few sentences down in Goodreads. If it's part of a blog tour, then I have to do a little more. I, also, started to keep a notebook to write things down about each book. We'll see if that helps.

  5. I know just what you mean about writing your review as soon as you've finished the book - it's the way I like to work, too. Hope you get your mojo back in the coming week, Yvonne.

  8. We had rain this last week in Colorado. Heat was the week before. We're always ahead of what the east coast does. I think it will be more seasonable this week. I read one really long book this week. As it turns out I wasn't satisfied by it. So I'm re-reading an ARC that comes out in July. I know that one is good. Hope you have a good week.

  9. I need to write a review before starting the next book, too. Might even be more challenging for you, Yvonne, since you read mostly in one genre and its subgenres. Hope you enjoy your week.

    1. It can get a big confusing when I read primarily one genre and trying to write a review before reading the next one. Sometimes it's a juggling act. Have a great week!

  10. I am with you on the reviews. I have to write them straight away. Leave it and go into the next book and I'll be totally befuddled!

  11. I hear you about writing reviews. It seems like I say the same thing over and over. I used to do a lot of highlighting on my Kindle but now mainly just highlight characters names so that I get the spelling right. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

    1. That's another thing - I feel like I say the same thing over and over, too. It's especially hard to find different words when, like me, I primarily only read one specific genre.
