The Weekend Review - July 12th-14th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to Stacking the Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

How is everything this week?  Our weather has been steamy which is usual for Florida.  Not too much going on here.

I only finished one book this week.  A couple of my TV shows are ending for the season Transplant (which is ending forever) and Criminal Minds for the season.  Dexter started yesterday and that was good.  We're hoping to get to the theater to see Superman soon.  Maybe we'll go during the week when it's less crowded.

My goal to not accepting so many review requests or ARCs isn't working out.  I can't seem to help myself.  Everything always sounds so tempting so I end up putting pressure on myself to get them done by deadlines. At some point I will get my calendar more organized.

Other than that, it's the same old here.  How are things by you?  I hope everyone has a great week!

Here is this week's e-book freebie haul.  They were freebies when I got them, I don't know if they still are. Always make sure to check they are still free before buying. The prices change quickly.

  2. I hear ya on accepting too many books! LOL I'm reading faster lately, but I also am 'fitting in' the four books for our local trivia battle of the books. I think Sandy Page Bookshop is on my TBR too....

  3. Urg! I know JUST what you mean. I'm still badly behind my Netgalley arcs and just wanted to have a few in Sept/Oct and before I knew it - I've also got a load more for July/August!!! How did that happen?

    1. I know...it's like the ARCs just magically find their way to you. LOL That's what I'm trying to convince myself happened :)

  4. I know the feeling about being tempted by the ARCs. I had a goal of getting my NetGalley ratio up to 80%, but it's going in the opposite direction. Have a great week and stay cool. :)

    1. That's what happened to me. I intended to get my ratio down and instead it keeps going up. Hope you have a great week!

  5. I decided not to take on many book reviews a long time ago. Instead, I add the books I want to read to my Amazon wish list and I keep watching to see if my libraries have them.

    1. I do the same thing with my Amazon wishlist. I'm always checking it to see if any are at the library. Have a great week!

  6. yes I have plenty of ARCs but I am pretty organized to stay on top of it. August actually is pretty empty while July and September are packed. So maybe I'll read some stuff I own that I've always wanted to read. Stay cool!

  7. I think it has been steamy everywhere this week, with pop up storms. I have been avoiding Net Galley and other review sites, LOL! I am currently content reading my own books, trying to get my owned, but not read number well below 200. It's my own challenge, LOL!

Thank you for stopping by and visiting my blog! I always love reading comments and getting to know my readers!

After some careful consideration, I've decided to become an award-free blog. Although I appreciate and am honored by each and every award I've received, your comments and friendship are enough award for me. Thank you all so much for your thoughtfulness.

Due to way too many spam comments, I disabled the Anonymous User comments. We'll see if this works, otherwise I'll have to go back to word verification.
