The Weekend Review - September 13th-September 15th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to Stacking the Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

What a crazy week!  The weather here has been nothing but thunderstorms, rain and humidity.  Not a favorite of mine but it could be worse, I guess.

We went to the movies to see the new Superman.  It's been forever since we actually went to a movie.  It was okay.  Not the best, but not the worst either.

I finished two books this week.  I still haven't finished watching Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.  I just have to watch the season finale, and I'm done. I just haven't felt like watching TV this week.

I had my blood work results back, and they were good.  So, between that and my good MRI from last week, I guess all is good for now.  I go to the doctor this week, so I guess she'll tell me for sure.

I've been trying to get into audio books, but I can't seem to concentrate on them.  I'll keep trying but I think I'm better at reading.  Maybe once the weather is better, I'll be better at listening to books while I walk.  I used to really like listening on my walks.

I hope you all have a great week!

I'm currently reading...

I finished reading ...

Upcoming books...

These are the books I want to read in September. I doubt I'll finish them all, but we'll see.

Here is this week's e-book freebie haul.  They were freebies when I got them, I don't know if they still are. Always make sure to check they are still free before buying. The prices change quickly. Looks like everyone is getting into the Halloween mood.

  1. I put Christmas People on my list. It looks like a gentle read and that's what I'm enjoying (mostly) right now.

So glad your blood work results were good!

  3. That weather sounds horrible. High humidity is so energy-sapping! Staying indoors and reading has to be the only sensible answer! Glad the tests all came back good - have a lovely week, Yvonne:).

  4. Good news about your health! Sounds like your doctor will just confirm that this week. I listen to audiobooks when I'm doing things at home, but reading is definitely my preference. I'm much more focused when I read than when I listen, plus I find it to be more relaxing. Although, I must say I'm really enjoying the audiobook I'm listening to right now. Have a great week! :-)

  5. My son and I saw Superman because he's a big fan. We also saw Fantastic Four. I loved both movies which surprised me because I've never been a big fan of either. Guess I am now.

  6. We have had crazy weather here. Rain and then in the next half hour bright sunshine.

I can't believe that there is another Superman movie out 😂

Have a great week and I hope that the Drs goes well.

  8. I'm sorry the weather was so humid. We have been lucky to have north winds so it's been around 80, fairly dry and low humidity. This week we will get a couple days of rain though. Audiobooks really work for me and let me multitask.

  10. Sorry the weather is so nasty right now. It's been hot, but not overly humid here and no storms. Great news about your blood work. Praying things continue to go well. Enjoy your books!

  11. Glad to hear your tests haven’t raised any concerns. Strange New Worlds is next on my binge list, I’m just finishing The Summer I turned Pretty.

Wishing you a great reading week.

  13. I was really bad with audiobooks when I first started listening to them. I would zone out. I got better with practice. Now I mostly listen to them while exercising because that's tedious and doesn't distract me from the book.

  16. I do like audio, I think its pretty normal for our minds to wander a bit, but we can either just keep listening or scroll back. I find when I am tired and reading is not to my liking an audiobook is great. Keep at it and perhaps when you go walking or gardening or whatever.

  17. Yay for a good bloodwork and a good MRI! I love stormy gray days when I don't have to go anywhere but I have a time limit before it gets annoying and I'm never a fan of that post-storm humidity. It took me awhile to get used to audio books. I started with rereads and I think that helped because I was having to constantly go back if I missed a spot and I figured out the activities I could and couldn't use audio books. Walks and chores are fantastic for audio books but cooking was a no go. Have a great week!

  18. Hooray for good blood work!

The freebies are tempting! I'm trying to read down the ones I have on my kindle before I get any more, but this time of year I want all the cozies.

  19. I am so glad your blood work came back negative. That is good news!

I will take your weather if you want to get rid of it. Well, maybe not the lightning because of the fire risk. If only I could have thunder without the lightning. I would like to see the new Superman movie, but will probably wait until it's streaming.

I love the cover of No Rest for the Wicked! I hope you are enjoying your reading, Yvonne. Have a great week!
