Sunday/Monday Posts - April 3rd and 4th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now a Facebook group.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews.

Happy Sunday!

Welcome April! The weather has been terrible, but maybe we'll actually get some spring weather eventually...if the forecasters can stop using the snow word :) I know I haven't been around much lately. Between vacations, work and illness, I've just been busy. I'm starting to get back into the swing of things again, so here I am :)

My regular readers know that cozy mysteries are my favorite reading genre. Sadly many of our favorite cozy series have been cancelled. A great group on Facebook has been started to "Save Our Cozies". If you have Facebook and are interested, here's the link https://www.facebook.com/groups/726103940858234/ Many of us have grown to love our favorite characters and series and will miss them.

I saw two good movies this week...Room and Brooklyn. Now I want to read the books. The books have been on my list to read for a long time. I've also been enjoying all my TV shows and a new one Criminal Minds: Beyond the Borders. Good show.

I have a couple of blog tours scheduled for next week. I'm still trying to keep them to just a few.

So, how was your week?  Read any good books?  Seen any good shows or movies?

Yvonne

  2. I hate that they are cancelling cozies you would think by how popular they are that they would keep those series going but I guess that is the publishing business. :(

I have The Cracked Spine coming up on my audio reviews and some of your coming soon ones there for audio too. I love my cozies!!

  3. Oh, what sad news about the cancellations! Hope something changes.

I saw the movies ROOM and Brooklyn and loved them. I also loved the book Brooklyn, read recently, and ROOM is waiting patiently on my Kindle. Soon!

Enjoy your week, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  4. Oh that is horrible that some of your series have been canceled. I really thought the cozy genre was strong, although come to think of it..I started one on audio and haven't seen book two..uh oh. I better go investigate. Hope you are feeling 100% and that those evil weatherman stop with the S word already!

  5. The cracked Spine looks really good. And I was sad to hear about the cozies too- just saw the news on the Sunday Post and went over to Dollycas to read the thing. What a shame. I saw a book or two on there I was interested in!

Have a great week! It snowed here yesterday too... :)

  8. Brooklyn looks so good! I'm very distressed about the cozies. I'm hoping it isn't as bad as we fear but am definitely not counting on it. Yes My Accent is Real looks so good! I love him on The Big Bang Theory. I just ordered my first Eva Gates book (as part of the Save Our Cozies thing) and can't wait to start it. Have a great week!

  9. It's interesting that your weather's remained wintery Yvonne as our weather (here in Australia) has remained hot (30C+) even though we're halfway through Autumn!

  13. Interesting news about cozies. I just read that they are publishing less urban fantasy too which I enjoy. I wonder what the next big thing in publishing is? Here is what I read last week. Happy reading!

  14. What a shame about the cozies, while I read very few myself I know they are hugely popular. Hmm just reading Kathy's comment about. Publishers!! However with independent publishing these days authors have choices. Like the look of Mary Kay Andrews book, I enjoy her.

  15. Guess I had better order some cozies to add to my TBR shelves! I am not happy that some of the publishers will drop them. Maybe something will happen to Save the Cozies.
