First Chapter Tuesdays/Teaser Tuesdays - August 30th

Every Tuesday Diane at Bibliophile By the Sea hosts First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros, where we share the first paragraph or (a few) of a book we are reading or thinking about reading soon. Care to join us?

If you'd like to play along on Teaser Tuesdays, just click the button above.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week I'm reading...

First chapter...

Trouble in the Stepmother Hood

Though it was February, the galley kitchen at her future husband's old farmhouse was steamy and hot, but Linny hardly noticed. Peering at the pages on the counter, she pushed back up her nose the reading glasses she'd had to borrow from Jack and double-checked to make sure she'd not left out any key ingredients. Why had she printed the recipe in ten-point font? Tonight's menu came from a website she'd found called Recipes for Picky Eaters, and she hoped it was a winner. She shook her head, chagrined at Jack's reaction to the first possible menu she'd suggested. He'd kept that pleasant smile on his handsome face, but his eyebrows had shot up. Once they'd come back down to normal, his veto had been so diplomatic.

Linny got a nervous flip in her stomach when she thought about becoming a stepmother.

What do you think? Would you keep reading?

  2. This sounds like a great story. My teaser this week is from a fantasy romance on my review stack - My Wild Irish Dragon by Ashlyn Chase. Happy reading!

  3. Pretty cover and I am sure being a step mother is very difficult. Hope it all comes out well in the end. :-)

Here's mine: “THIS MUST BE THE PLACE”

  8. Now I want to know what got vetoed. That alone would drag me into the story.

  9. I like family stories and would keep reading.

  10. Sounds like a story I'd enjoy. I already dislike Jack. If he doesn't like her menu, he should do the cooking!
My Tuesday post features BROKEN PIECES

  11. A trying time for her.

  12. I'm intrigued! I'm a stepmother and have definitely dealt with more than my share of picky eaters!

  13. I don't think this is a me book but, hope u love it.
