The Weekend Review - April 27th-29th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews.

Happy Weekend!

I hope you are all enjoying the weekend.  We had a lot of rain this week and Sunday seems a wash out too.  I'm just happy we aren't getting snow, but I do wish it were a bit warmer.

I didn't pick up too many Kindle freebies this week.  Probably because I have most of them already.  The two I did get look good.

I just started reading Park Avenue Summer and enjoying it.  I love reading books set in New York in the 1950's.  It feels like the old TV show Mad Men.

I'm still catching up with my TV and have a long way to go.  I'll get there, though.  I seem to prefer reading lately so that's what I'm doing.

I hope you all have a great week!

Here are this week's Kindle freebie haul. They were freebies when I got them, I don't know if they still are. Always make sure to check they are still free before buying. The prices change quickly.  Not too many this week.

These books are coming up for reviews and/or blog tours in the next couple of months:

  1. I like the sound of Park Avenue Summer. Have a great weekend, Yvonne!

  2. I'm fascinated with the lives of women in the past, so I feel sure I would be very interested in Park Avenue Summer. It's so different now for me as a woman than it was back when I was a child. I think it's important for people growing up to never forget that, and books and stories are one way of doing that.

The weather here is amazing, with temps in the 70's, a light breeze, and brilliant sun. I'm headed off to volunteer at an outdoor naturalist event all day, so I think it will be a lovely day.

  3. Rain here too and nope, no snow here either. Not that I'm complaining either. I'll have to let my wife know about the Park Avenue Summer book. She loved Mad Men. What are you watching lately?

  4. Lots of tempting books! Park Avenue Summer looks good. I loved Mad Men, so that era speaks to me, too.

  5. I love NY so Park Avenue Summer sounds really good. I'll be looking for your review.

  6. Park Avenue Summer sounds really good! I also love the cover. I hope you enjoy it.

Tina @ As Told By Tina

  7. I love the cover of Park Avenue Summer! Just heard about it this past week... sounds really good. Hope you're enjoying it!

  8. Thank you again for reviewing I Am Not A Skunk. It has been rainy here too all week. I love Mad Men, such a good show. Have a nice week! XO

  9. It’s raining here right now, and I’m happy it isn’t snow. I’ve had enough of that. Have a great week!

Aj @ Read All The Things!

  10. I enjoyed your review of I Am Not A Skunk. I really like reading children's books. I fell a bit behind on reading and watching my shows but hope to catch up on everything soon. Finally starting to settle into my new job and finding a new schedule.

  11. The 50's is a fun time to read, watch movies, and learn about. It looks like you got a lot of good books! Happy Reading :)

    Lindy@ A Bookish Escape

  12. I too like to read about women in different eras and settings. I particularly like to read about ordinary women and how they managed their lives most often in difficult circumstances.

  13. Wow you have a lot of books in progress or up for some action. I just chug along on my list and hope to make progress. My Sunday Salon

  14. I’ve seen The Missing Years around quite a lot. I hope you enjoy it.

    Have a great reading week

  15. We are getting the snow you avoided. It makes for good reading weather which is the only positive I can come up with about it. Come see my week here. Happy reading.

  16. The best feature on Amazon is the fact they tell you you have already bought the book. Thank goodness or I'd double up!

  17. I've read some of the Jaci Burton series but have yet to finish it. I started a new series of hers about firefighters though. Our weather has been pretty nice. Mostly, although it's going to heat up this week. I hope your weather is lovely Happy reading!

Anne - Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post

  18. Hope you like Park Avenue Summer -- I really liked it ... my review will be up next week.

  19. Changeable between glorious sunshine and thundery rain here so the flowers (and weeds) are growing ridiculously fast.
I like the look of Park Avenue Summer. The woman on the cover is so elegant. I love those fashion styles
