The Weekend Review - April 27th-29th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews.

Happy Weekend!

I hope you are all enjoying the weekend.  We had a lot of rain this week and Sunday seems a wash out too.  I'm just happy we aren't getting snow, but I do wish it were a bit warmer.

I didn't pick up too many Kindle freebies this week.  Probably because I have most of them already.  The two I did get look good.

I just started reading Park Avenue Summer and enjoying it.  I love reading books set in New York in the 1950's.  It feels like the old TV show Mad Men.

I'm still catching up with my TV and have a long way to go.  I'll get there, though.  I seem to prefer reading lately so that's what I'm doing.

I hope you all have a great week!

Yvonne

  2. I'm fascinated with the lives of women in the past, so I feel sure I would be very interested in Park Avenue Summer. It's so different now for me as a woman than it was back when I was a child. I think it's important for people growing up to never forget that, and books and stories are one way of doing that.

The weather here is amazing, with temps in the 70's, a light breeze, and brilliant sun. I'm headed off to volunteer at an outdoor naturalist event all day, so I think it will be a lovely day.

  3. Rain here too and nope, no snow here either. Not that I'm complaining either. I'll have to let my wife know about the Park Avenue Summer book. She loved Mad Men. What are you watching lately?

  11. I too like to read about women in different eras and settings. I particularly like to read about ordinary women and how they managed their lives most often in difficult circumstances.

  15. The best feature on Amazon is the fact they tell you you have already bought the book. Thank goodness or I'd double up!

  18. Changeable between glorious sunshine and thundery rain here so the flowers (and weeds) are growing ridiculously fast.
I like the look of Park Avenue Summer. The woman on the cover is so elegant. I love those fashion styles
