The Weekend Review - October 3rd-5th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews.

It's October!  Time is suddenly flying since earlier in the year it felt like it was dragging.  Why is every week feeling so crazy these days?  The debate, COVID...I guess the virus isn't going to just "disappear".   Everything is just so unsettling these days.

On a more positive note, my cat Cookie is feeling much better after being at the emergency animal center last week.  Her breathing is pretty normal now and she's eating much better.  She's been so good in taking her meds every day.  Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers for her.  They are greatly appreciated!

Although my plan is to cutback on blog tours in the future, I still have many commitments to fulfill.  So, you'll still be seeing a full blog schedule.  Next week is pretty full.  In the new year, I'll be changing things up a bit but I have time to think about that.

I'm also still thinking about whether I will switch to Wordpress.  I'm still finding the new Blogger difficult to navigate but I've heard Wordpress has problems too.  I think I will be following several bloggers' advice and play around with a test Wordpress blog, since I already have one.  I'll see if it's easier to use.  I'd really rather not switch because...honestly....I'm just too lazy.  LOL  I'd rather spend my time reading :)

I haven't really been watching much TV, but my shows should be returning soon and I'll be watching again.

That's about it from here.  What's going on in your part of the world?  I hope all is well with everyone.  Have a great week!

  1. It has felt crazy lately. I hope October calms down a bit but so far it doesn't look like that's going to happen right? And Blogger has been giving me fits. I've had trouble getting posts ready and honestly I might have to think of switching too, although I'd prefer not to...

    The Unger book looks interesting!

  2. I've seen Too many Crooks spoil the plot on BookBub and I thought it was a very clever title!

I love my new template and still on blogger. Switching over to Wordpress will mean I'll have to redo everything. To lazy and stupid with computers for that!

Hope you will have a good week, here's my latest update: The Sunday Post #13

  3. When we were walking this morning, we came to the place in the sidewalk where we can see a long way down the street, and I told my husband that today feels like yesterday, as I remember seeing that same view yesterday. He said that every day feels like yesterday, and I think it's true.

So glad your cat Cookie is doing better. We do not need any additional stress right now, do we?

Wordpress or Blogger? I think each one has its merits. I am at 81% of my space filled on Blogger, and I wonder what I'll do as I get closer and closer to running out of space.

    Have a great week!

  4. Great books. I love xmas books at all times of the year and that Lisa Unger sounds intriguing, like 'Girl on the Train' or somethin'

  5. I am glad Cookie is feeling better!

WordPress Block Editor issues are challenging, but I'm working on it. I still like it better than Blogger. I switched from Blogger with most of my sites in 2009...and then the last one in 2013.

I think using a test blog is a good idea. Enjoy!

I will be getting the new Lisa Unger book soon!

  6. I think at this point everyone is just hoping that 2021 will be in a better year than this one!
Glad to hear Cookie is still doing well

Wishing you a great reading week

  9. I’m glad Cookie is feeling better. I still haven’t decided if I want to stay on Blogger. Switching is going to be stressful and expensive. Have a good week!

  10. I’m glad to hear Cookie is better, that’s great news!

I’m going to stick with blogger, I’ll end up losing my rag if I move to WP!

  11. I am using Wordpress and so far, so good. But I get plenty of tech support with UBB. I hope you find a way that works for you. I cut back on challenges and blog tours this year which turned out well. I'm happy to hear Cookie is better.

  13. Wise thinking - after I'd visited last week I thought of a test Wordpress blog, but I see you are ahead on that. Wordpress isn't so much as a problem as we are faced with new ways of dealing with it and its just a nuisance factor until we learn its new ways. Enjoy your books.

  14. I'm pretty frustrated with the new blogger, too. Just today I figured out the new feature to add YouTube videos to the blog doesn't allow readers to see the video on their smartphones, maybe all Apple products. I can view it on my computer perfectly fine so I don't know it is a problem until someone complains. Ugh. I'm back to adding videos the old way, which means they sometimes just disappear. It was a weird week. Here's what I have to say about it on my blog

  15. So happy to hear Cookie is feeling better. At least there is a little brightness in this crazy year.

I've never been a WordPress fan, so the block editor made my opinion worse. I think 2020 will bring some blogging changes for me as well.

Great books this week. Can't wait to see what you have to say about The 12 Christmases of You and Me.

Hope you have a nice week.

  16. This has been quite a stressful year. I'm glad Cookie is feeling better and not adding to the stress. I'm feeling better about Blogger as I get more used to its new idiosyncrasies. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  19. There's a few new shows for me to try but most of my regular shows won't be back until November. Check out what I read last week.

  20. I'm so glad Cookie is feeling better. I'm not loving the new blogger but I figure I like it more then I would like all the trouble of moving to Wordpress - though bear in mind I'm pretty lazy. Hope you're having a great week.

Thank you for stopping by and visiting my blog! I always love reading comments and getting to know my readers!

After some careful consideration, I've decided to become an award-free blog. Although I appreciate and am honored by each and every award I've received, your comments and friendship are enough award for me. Thank you all so much for your thoughtfulness.

Due to way too many spam comments, I disabled the Anonymous User comments. We'll see if this works, otherwise I'll have to go back to word verification.
