The Weekend Review - September 18-20th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

This is only my second year of living in Florida (most of that time was spent inside because of the pandemic) and it's so weird to think this is September when it still feels like summer here.  I've heard it will start getting cooler but it will still feel more like summer than fall.

I only finished one book this week, but it was a good one.  I'm currently reading another really good book.  My TV shows will be starting soon and that will cut into my reading time, but that's okay.  I can multi-task :)

Lately we've been binge-watching House with Hugh Laurie.  I watched the entire series when it first aired, but I'm enjoying it all over again.  I forgot alot of it over the years.

Other than that, not much happening here.  I hope everyone is having a great weekend and have a great upcoming week.

  1. I've always wondered how I'd like living in Florida. I love it when I'm there but I know summer is HOT haha and it might be too much for me- but then again winters are glorious! Anyway- glad the reads are good.

Reunions and Reckonings- fun cover. I like the look of My Darling Husband and Nanny Dearest too.

  3. I absolutely love House! We used to watch it as a family and guess at possible diseases. It's never lupus though! 'Last Seen Alone' looks great, I hope it continues to be a good read! Have a lovely weekend and week ;)

  4. Even though the weather is not complying, at least it looks like your reading is suitably autumnal. 🍂 Take care and happy reading! 😃

  5. A friend of mine just got back from Florida and she documented all of the creatures and toads and geckos. she got in some drama with her sister's husband who couldn't stand her smoke breaks (shrugs)

  7. Great looking books! I have a couple of unread Laura Griffin books on my Kindle. I hope to get to them soon!

Enjoy your books and your week, and I don't get out much these days, either, but I am happy to be out of my last residence. Enjoying my apartment and my TV shows.

  8. I was just about ready to cut the cord on tv/cable and then I saw a couple new shows coming out this fall that look good. I need to look into an antenna I think so I can cut cable since they are on local network channels. Looks like you got some good books. Have a good week!

  9. Having lived in the upper midwest my entire life, it would be strange to live somewhere that still felt like summer in September.

Glad you are enjoying House again. It is funny how we forget things over the years.

    Have a good week!

  11. I thought living at the seaside it will be summer all year around. No such luck! It's still winter cold here and it's suppose to be spring at least!

Ah well, at least we still have great books to read.

Have a good week and enjoy all your fun reads!

  12. House was a good show. Have you ever watched Nurse Jackie? She is like the female version of House- a good show. XO

  13. A Perfect Bind is catching my eye. I guess Florida doesn't really get winter. I would miss that.

  15. I usually get quite a few Kindle freebies each week, but this week I only found one. Happy reading!

  16. House was a favorite of mine back when I actually watched stories on television. I've never lived anywhere but various places in Minnesota. I think Florida has too much wildlife for me. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  17. I don't know how Florida is for sure, but I suspect it is much like my part of Texas. Summer often lingers through October, with some occasional cold fronts pushing through. I've never experienced a lovely leaf-turning, cool fall.

Burden of Proof and A Perfect Bind both look great. Love those cats involved in the mysteries.

We are hoping to try Ted Lasso soon.

  18. House is so good! Hugh Laurie is an excellent actor.

I don't know if I could ever live in Florida. I love fall, winter, and spring, and don't care for the heat and humidity of summer. But I think I'm in the minority!

I like the cover of A Perfect Bind. And I really should try Laura Griffith one of these days. I'm always a little nervous with a new romantic-suspense author, though; some are too dark, scary, or gruesome for me.

  19. Hope you are liking Florida. I've never wanted to go that far south. I've been watching bits and pieces of House. I never saw it when it originally aired.

Great books this week. I also downloaded Dark Roasted to Death. A Perfect Bind looks cute.

Hope you have a great week.

  20. It's always amazing hearing people who live up north describe seasons - or realize how warmly you need to dress if you head north in October! I really need to read more Laura Griffin. I've really enjoyed the books I've read by her but have only picked up a few. Have a great week!
