Book Beginnings on Fridays/The Friday 56 - May 2nd

This week I'm joining in Book Beginnings on Friday. It's hosted by Rose City Reader.  This is where we post the beginning of the books we are reading or will be reading.

I'm also joining in for the Friday 56.

Freda at Freda's Voice started and hosted The Friday 56 for a long, long time. She is taking a break and Anne at My Head if Full of Books has taken on hosting duties in her absence. Please visit Anne's blog and link to your Friday 56 post.

Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader.
*Find any sentence that grabs you.
*Post it.
*Link it here.

It's that simple.

I just finished reading this novella.  Good mystery.

Book Beginnings...

Death, the Immortal Bard

I never imagined a knitted scarf could be so sinister.  That was until I saw mine wrapped around a dead man's neck.

From 56% on my e-reader...

I met his stormy gaze, my heart pinballing in my chest.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

A twisted tale trapped in luxury—every clue is a stitch in the mystery.

Tess Harper, a local librarian, has a neat streak and a nose for trouble. She looks forward to a quiet weekend at the lavish Chester Villa to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Aubrey's parents, her best friend. Accompanied by her loyal Golden Retriever, Daisy, Tess anticipates a pleasant stay.

But plans unravel quickly.

A storm hits, sealing everyone inside. Then someone finds a gruff accountant strangled in a locked coatroom. Murdered in the villa.

A Shakespeare quote stuffed in his mouth. Tess’s favorite scarf around his neck and the coatroom key clenched in his dead hand.

Everyone’s a suspect.

A thrilling chase to uncover the killer begins.

Trapped in the villa, can Tess and Daisy track down the murderer before he or she strikes again?

What do you think?  What are you sharing today?

  2. Ugh. Imagine knitting a scarf and then discovering it is the murder weapon.

  4. This would be a mystery -- if the key was in his hand, how was the door locked? Spare key? Now I just want to read it to find out!
