Synopsis from Goodreads:

He stole her heart, her recipes… and left her in the rain.

Pastry chef Hannah Harper had it all—a coveted job at Vancouver’s elite Tate Family Bakery and a whirlwind romance with Oliver Tate, the charming heir to the empire. But ambition, betrayal, and a rival chef named Patsy change everything. When Oliver casts her aside—dumping her belongings on the curb and moving on without a second thought—Hannah is left heartbroken and jobless in a city that no longer feels like home.

Crushed but not broken, she returns to Kelowna and rediscovers her fire, her flavor, and a long-buried dream. With nothing to lose and everything to prove, she takes a leap—buying a beat-up food truck with her father’s inheritance and heading to a lakeside town called Ogilvie.

This heartwarming, bittersweet prequel sets the stage for fresh starts, second chances, and a dash of revenge served warm.

My Review

Hannah Harper finds herself being romanced by Oliver Tate.  He happens to be the son and heir to the bakery she works at.  Everything is going well and their romance continues to blossom.  Then, it all fell apart.

The next thing she knows, she’s leaving Vancouver and going back to her hometown of Kelowna.  She buys an old food truck, refurbishes it and starts a new life and career for herself.

This is a short prequel to a new culinary cozy mystery.  It’s a wonderful introduction to the characters and series.  The prequel is more of a romance than a mystery, but it’s a great taste for the exciting stories to come.

I read this in one-sitting and immediately liked Hannah. She’s the only character I really got to know.  I’m not sure which characters will be staying with this series, but I’m looking forward to finding out.

Good, solid start to this series.  It has great potential.
