This week, the topic is Books Guaranteed to Put an End to Your Book Slump. I don't have any specific books that help me deal with book slumps, but this is what helps me...
1. Reading a book from Miranda James' Cat in the Stacks series. It's a cozy mystery series featuring a Maine Coon cat named Diesel. This series always makes me smile and snaps me out of book slumps every time. The covers alone snap me out of my doldrums.
3. Reading novellas or short books can help get me out of a reading slump.
4. A cheerful or happy book can jump start my reading mojo.
5. Playing video games can also be a trigger for me to get out of a reading slump. Of course, it takes up hours of my time without me even realizing it. But when I'm done, I always feel like reading.
6. Watching a favorite TV show can also get me out of a slump. I guess because it takes me away from reading for awhile.
7. Staying away from sites like NetGalley or Edelweiss helps. It makes me too anxious about all the books I still have to read from them.
8. Strolling through book blogs. It helps reading which books everyone is enjoying and getting excited about. That makes me want to read.
9. Scrolling through my e-reader and seeing what books are there. It triggers me to want to read a few.
10. Lists of books...I love making lists of books and that makes me want to read more.
That's it. Sometimes nothing works and I just have to wait it out. I really dislike reading slumps.
What's on your list this week?
I've been reading darker books of late, and decided yesterday I needed to break that up and picked up an Abby Jimenez book.

These are all great tips.
ReplyDeleteAh, no. 8 on your list is an excellent idea, and it is exceptionally excellent to do so on a day where bloggers are writing about books to break a book slump.
ReplyDeleteA great list! So many good ideas here! I've only ever been in what I would call a slump once and that was when I was pregnant. I worried that I wouldn't get my love of reading back because it lasted so long! Once my son arrived it came back, but I can only read one book at a time because I can't remember much any more.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

this is a fun way to do the top ten. https://bibliophilebree.blogspot.com/2025/08/top-ten-tuesday-books-to-get-you-out-of.html
ReplyDeleteThese are all great suggestions. I had to stop Net Galley for quite a while, and I have cut down on my review books. It starts to feel like you have to rush through everything to get to the deadlines, and that creates the reading slump.
ReplyDeleteFor me it isn't slumps, it's just finding the time, with all the work, to read at all.
ReplyDeleteGreat list. I always want to read, but sometimes I don't have the time. XO
ReplyDeleteNice list, Yvonne. You're the second person I visited today who opted to tackle the topic like this. What a great idea!

I stopped reviewing books a few months ago because I got overwhelmed. I'm hoping to get back to reviewing this fall.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes reading something that doesn't come with a deadline's a good one! Sites like Netgalley and Edelweiss helps too. I finally got my list down to a manageable size, but avoiding time on either site also helps me to keep that list small, lol!
ReplyDeleteSome really great tips here!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy seeing what others do on their blogs and it can give you a boost in the reading ranks too.

Great suggestions! I don't really have reading slumps, thank goodness.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
Great suggestions! I especially agree with playing video games. Sometimes I just need a change of medium. I definitely agree with less review books. I've cut back down on review books and gotten pickier about the ones I accept and that has really helped.
ReplyDeleteI second taking a break from reading review books. It does take some of the enjoyment out of reading. TV does the opposite for me. I’m trying to get away from watching it entirely. Staying away from NetGalley is interesting. Might be helpful.
ReplyDeleteVisiting everyone else's bookblogs definitely helps me get out of a slump! There are always so many new, shiny books that catch my attention!

I can't recall ever having a book slump, but if I'm feeling like I need something different, I would choose a cozy mystery or a romcom.
