In all of my culinary mysteries, I offer recipes at the backs of the books. This has become a trend for many authors. I actually know people who have bought my book to get a few recipes and then, luckily, enjoyed the read! LOL
In my new COOKBOOK NOOK MYSTERIES, Jenna, the protagonist, has opened a culinary bookshop and café with her aunt. The shop carries not only cookbooks but culinary mysteries and culinary fiction as well as kitchenware, gift items, and children’s kitchen gear. The café is becoming the in place in town to dine.
Jenna is a foodie. She adores food. She’s eaten everything from eel to alligator, but she doesn’t have a clue how to cook. Her mother always did the cooking. I thought it would be fun to teach her how to cook through the series. She’s eager to get started. Her aunt and a good friend both suggest that she start with five ingredients or less recipes. There are tons of them. This one she happened to find in one of the culinary mysteries she carries in the shop. Surprise, surprise. It happens to come from an Avery Aames Cheese Shop Mystery, LOST AND FONDUE. There’s a little poetic justice in that, isn’t there? J Or is it literary irony?
Blue Cheese and Garlic Fondue
2 ounces Point Reyes Blue Cheese
½ cup half and half
1 tablespoon tapioca flour
2 cloves of garlic
Cut garlic in half. Rub garlic around the inside of a fondue pot. Heat fondue pot to medium heat. Add half and half. Add cheese and stir until it is all melted. Add tapioca flour and stir again so there are no lumps. This all takes about five to seven minutes.
Serve warm in a small crockpot with cut vegetables like broccoli florets, celery sticks, carrot sticks, and asparagus. It may also be served with crackers and/or bread cubes.
