Booking Through Thursday - Gifts

This week's question...

Do you like to give books as gifts?

My answer...

No. I don't really have anyone who reads the way I do and, even if I did, I wouldn't give them a book. I would give them a gift card to choose their own book. The only type of book gift I would be is if it was maybe a coffee table book or something special. Otherwise, I don't know what someone may have read or has no interest in.

A few times I've been given books that weren't my genre at all and were...well...too boring for me to even try. LOL Then then giver would keep asking if I read it and how I liked it, etc. Or I've been given books I already have or read. I'd rather get a gift card and choose my own books.

  1. It can be really hard to guess what someone's taste in books is and my continuous failing with my sister is more a sign of my stubbornness of accepting she reads differently! Hop on over if you have the time:

  2. It's always hard to guess what to buy, but I'm a risk-taker and I try anyway...usually with an epic fail following immediately. I love getting books and gift cards though.

  5. I love giving books, but I usually do it as a gift card to a book store, so the recipient can choose. Books are so subjective.

  6. Oh man, one of my least favorite things is when someone asks if I've read a book they gave me. I don't think they realize that I have a book queue, created for a variety of reasons, so I don't just read a book because it was given to me. It ranks right up there with someone interrupting me when I'm reading, lol.

Gift cards are definitely the best option in my book!
