Booking Through Thursday - Winter

This week's question...
It’s the depth of winter here where I live right now … what books do you like to read when it’s snowy and white? What books do you read to evoke a real feeling of winter (good or bad)?
My answer...
I like to read books set in whatever season I happen to be in at that time. Around Thanksgiving/Christmas - I like to read books with those themes (usually a cozy or romance). During October, I like to read spooky/paranormal type books because of Halloween. During the winter, I like to read books that are set around storms - usually snow. Although I've learned that, in real life, there's nothing romantic about a blizzard. LOL
All that being said, since I began reviewing, this hasn't worked out at all for me. I think I only read two holiday books between Thanksgiving and Christmas (and one was for a review). Before I was reviewing, I would read primarily holiday books from Thanksgiving through January (or until I got bored of them).
OTOH, when the weather is cold or stormy here, it's not a terrible thing to read a book set in a warm climate. For a few hours I feel like I'm getting away from the dreary winter.
What do you prefer?

After some careful consideration, I've decided to become an award-free blog. Although I appreciate and am honored by each and every award I've received, your comments and friendship are enough award for me. Thank you all so much for your thoughtfulness.

It sounds like some of your winter reads are "seasonal," while others are "escape," like the beach reads. Good choices!

I agree about reading about a warm climate during winter. Right now, I'm reading a mystery set in Hawaii!
ReplyDeleteI don't really read seasonally, I just go back to my favourites and curl up in bed! Thanks for sharing!

I wish I were more of a "seasonal" reader. However, we don't usually have cold winters where I live, although we did have a recent cold snap. Interesting question today!
ReplyDeleteI read whatever I wanna :)
ReplyDeleteI live on the Pacific Ocean so we do not really have cold weather. I read my favorites and curl up.
ReplyDeleteI tend to be a seasonal reader too :)
