This week's question...
Do you lend your books? Are any out on loan right now? Do you have any that have been loaned to you? Do you put a time limit on these? Do you think people should make an effort to read the loaned book quickly?
My Answer...
No, I don't lend books.
Years ago when I lent a book, I never got it back. Or I would get it back in bad condition. Yes, I do think people should make an effort to read the loaned book quickly. I feel if you borrow something from anyone, you should do your best to return the item in a timely manner whether it's a book or anything else. (And return it in the same condition you borrowed it!)

Thank you for stopping by and visiting my blog! I always love reading comments and getting to know my readers!
After some careful consideration, I've decided to become an award-free blog. Although I appreciate and am honored by each and every award I've received, your comments and friendship are enough award for me. Thank you all so much for your thoughtfulness.
Due to way too many spam comments, I disabled the Anonymous User comments. We'll see if this works, otherwise I'll have to go back to word verification.

I do loan out books that I have already read. However, I draw the line with books I haven't read yet.
ReplyDeleteI agree,Yvonne...and I can actually count on one hand those to whom I've lent books....here's MY BTT POST
ReplyDeleteI can understand not wanting to lend books. I give them away instead - the ones I can part with - and so I'm not disappointed when a book doesn't come back!
ReplyDeleteHere's my full BTT Post On Lending Books
I agree! It gives me anxiety when I get books back in bad condition. Thank God I dont think anyone has ever NOT returned a book.

I would stop lending books, if they came back in bad condition.

I do lend, but I got one back and it was ruined :/
ReplyDeleteI do but I draw the line at my vintage classic books or new books I have not read. I feel that if you borrow a book, you must return it in same condition as soon as possible. I only lend to good friends I trust. My friends and I borrow each others library books but we are trustworthy enough to return them ahead of the return date.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. And I learned that lesson the hard way. Either I'd get the book back damaged, or not at all.
ReplyDeleteBut, I don't have the heart to say 'no' to close family and friends who want to borrow my books. I need to toughen up! lol
My thoughts exactly. Return them in the same condition that you got them. No exceptions.
ReplyDeleteI've had the same horror stories as well, water stained books, coffee stained books... the works! Drives me nuts!
