First Chapter Tuesday/Teaser Tuesday - February 13th

Every Tuesday Vicki at I'd Rather Be At the Beach hosts First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros, where we share the first paragraph or (a few) of a book we are reading or thinking about reading soon. Care to join us?

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, now being hosted by Ambrosia at The Purple Booker. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This is from the E-ARC of the current book I'm reading...

First Chapter... .

The call comes at three a.m.   The jagged ring of the bedside telephone tearing a hole in our sleep.

I reach out a hand to silence it.

"Hello," I whisper.

Static whispers back to me.  I press the phone harder to  my ear.

"Who is this?"

The line fizzes again and he's gone.

What do you think? Would you keep reading?

  1. Another positive aspect for me, I love narratives in the present tense. Here's mine:

  2. This one is on my list. A lot of people have been sharing about it and it sounds like a good one. Hope you enjoy it!

  3. I loved this book...and I hate phone calls in the middle of the night. Here's mine: “NOT HERE”

  4. Oh yes! This would keep me reading. I have a copy and hope to get to it this month.

  5. I like the writing - a lot. I want to know more about this book. It has my attention.

  6. I really enjoyed this book - I hope you do too!

  7. This one looks good. See what I'm featuring at Girl Who Reads

  8. It's seldom good when the phone rings at 3am
