The Weekend Review - May 30th-June 1st

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews.

Happy Weekend Everyone!

We had miserable weather all week...torrential downpours and flooding.  Fortunately, we didn't have any flooding at our house.  It was just a case of staying inside for us....wait!  We were already staying inside, so I guess there was no real change.  LOL  But...it's nicer to be inside with the sun shining :)  Gray skies are just sad.  The weekend is nice and sunny though!  Still inside, of course, except for a brief run to the grocery store.

As I hoped, my reading is increasing a little more all the time.  I used to only complete one book a week.  Last week it was two and now this week I read three books.  So, that's a plus.  I've also rediscovered the different Harlequin Romance line of books.  I used to love them so much, but then I grew into other reading genres (particularly the cozy mystery genre).  You all know I still love my cozy mysteries, but the Harlequins are nice to break things up a bit.  They really make me feel good after I read one and I need that these days.  I guess I really am a moody reader.  I don't know how long it will last, but for now I'm enjoying everything I'm reading.

I haven't really watched anything except my soaps these days.  General Hospital is in reruns and I'm catching those every now and then.  Days of Our Lives still has new episodes to air so that's really all I'm watching these days.

I still haven't gone for a haircut yet, but maybe it's time for me to trust the salons.  I don't know.  I have to ask around :)

Other than that, it's the same old stuff here.  I hope you all have a great week!

Yvonne

  1. Hey Yvonne, sorry to hear you have had bad weather, but thankful the flooding hasn't affected you. Great to hear you're reading more and got a brilliantly colourful haul of new books. I too love a good cosy mystery! Take care and happy reading! 🙂

  2. I'm so glad you are starting to get back into reading. I seem to be a mood reader these days. I can't settle into recent releases, it seems. I do well with older titles, especially children's books and nonfiction. It is what it is.

I would love to get my hair cut, but I am hesitant. My friend told me she thinks the Y is reopening next week. I can't see myself going to the Y right now, except maybe to swim in the outdoor pool.

Confusing times. Here's to better weather coming your way.

  3. wow! Three books in a week is such a good result! I don't know if I will ever be able to keep up with such a record, I have to admit that I'm a slow reader. It doesn't help that I always find myself attracted to massive books, like the one I'm reading - 1000 pages. :D
Heard so many good things about Happy & You Know It, and the cover looks so summer-ish.
Have a great weekend and thank you for stopping by!

  4. Paris is Always a Good Idea is on my list too. We had a good deal of rain this past week but at least that meant I didn't have to water the garden.

  5. I’m glad your house is okay. I don’t trust the salons yet. I’m just going to get my mom to chop off my hair when she has time. Since I’m stuck indoors, I don’t have to look pretty for anything.

Aj @ Read All The Things!

  6. So many cool looking books. Yes, I know what you mean the rain makes being at home feel even more isolating. I like to go for walks. Hope the sun finds its way to you!

  7. I'm pretty distracted these days but find I can read if I listen to audiobooks while I work a jigsaw puzzle or play computer games. I am pretty distressed about the new state of affairs in the US right now, too. My Sunday Salon and coronavirus diary

  9. It's been blazing hot and sunny here. Rainy days are nice now and then as they make me sleepy and I take a little nap. LOL Lots of great looking reads. I need to get to my huge pile of cozies.

  10. Glad the storms didn't do any damage to your home! We can get some crazy storms in our area too. Glad you were able to read so many books! Looking forward to the reviews you have coming up. There are some reads that are on my radar!

  13. I made a grocery store run this weekend too. It's kinda funny all of us in there wearing masks (most of us, anyway) and trying to all distance ourselves. I had to chuckle once or twice how crazy it all is now!

Hope your reads are good this week... :)

  14. We had some gray days last week, but thankfully no rain. Glad to hear you didn't have any flooding.

I finally got my hair cut and dyed. They aren't waxing eyebrows yet, but that's not too important to me.

Booked to Death and That Summer in Maine look neat. Hope you enjoy your books.

I have read quite a few Shannon Stacey books over the years and enjoyed them a lot.

  17. I’m glad you weren’t affected by the flooding!
I used to inhale Harlequin romances when I was at university, I’d buy 10-20 a week from the thrift store for a few $, read them all then donate them back ;) I haven’t read one for years though.

Wishing you a great reading week
