The Weekend Review - August 8th-10th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews.

Happy Weekend Everyone!

I hope everyone is doing well this week.  As always each day seems to blend in with the next.  If it wasn't for my blog I wouldn't even know what day it is.  LOL

This week I finished reading two books which is good for me.  When the pandemic first started, I signed up for a lot of book tours - mostly spotlights.  I guess I thought I would be bored.  Although I do tend to be bored, I also seem to fill up the hours in each day.  Anyway, August is solidly booked for tours.  This past week was a full one and next week is even busier.

Lately I seem addicted to psychological thrillers.  I can't get enough of them.  It's unusual since I'm usually a cozy mystery gal with an emphasis on cats.  I guess we all need to change it up a bit sometimes.

Besides my soaps, I've been watching baseball.  Pandemic baseball is weird but I'm happy to have it back.  At this point, I'll take anything.

The hurricane ended up missing us except for some rain and wind, but everyone up north (in my old neighborhood) was hit pretty hard.  I hope everyone who was hit by the hurricane is doing well and things are back to normal for you.

Not much else is happening over here.  I hope you all have a good week!

  1. Blogging helps me keep track of the days as well. Otherwise I would just be operating on the basis on work day or weekend.

    Have a great week!

  2. You certainly do have a lot of books coming up for reads in August. I hope you enjoy them all. I'm finding that I'm reading much, much more than normal, easily reading a book a day.

I think it's interesting that you are tending to read a slightly different genre now.

Glad you were able to dodge the hurricane. I have a friend and aunt in NC and both of them were happy to have it miss them, too.

Speaking of cats, I read The Travelling Cat Chronicles yesterday. Quite enjoyable.

  5. I love pyshological thrillers and basically anything written by peter swanson or gillian flynn. I have a hard time with them in the summer though as my own brain is often a psychological mess. But i've been ready cozy mystery.

  11. Your books look good. I always love a good psychological thriller...but lately, I've been missing cozy mysteries and need to search some out. You usually have some good ones.

I need blogging and soap watching to keep me on track each day, or I would be lost.

Glad the hurricane skipped over you.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend...and the new week. Here are my WEEKLY UPDATES

  12. The days sometimes do blend together--which I have to be careful of so I don't forget which days I need to be in the office versus working at home. LOL I hope you enjoy your reading! I have Checked Out for Murder on my TBR shelf and am looking forward to reading it. Have a good wee! Stay safe and well.

  15. Glad to hear the hurricane missed you. We had some damage from the tropical storm in our area. It could have been a lot worse.

Santa Shortbread looks so cute. Hope you enjoy all your books.

  18. I'm a big fan of psychological thrillers too but lately I've needed a change and have gotten more into general fiction. That said, I'm really curious about the Amber Garza book. Glad to hear the hurricane didn't cause any damage for you guys!
