The Weekend Review - September 26th-28th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews.

I'm getting a very late start this week.  I had a kitty crisis.  My baby Cookie (the baby is 12 years old)  was having trouble breathing and not eating.  We had to take her to the emergency animal center last night.  She had to spend the night but when we came back, she was in so much better condition.  They had to give her oxygen all night, meds, x-rays, the works.  She's back home now and I made sure to give her favorite meal of Fancy Feast Chicken Broth.  She ate two bowls of it :)  Of course we are watching every move she makes.  Right now, she's looking good.  We'll get her back to our own vet in a week to see how she's doing.

This emergency center was so good.  The people there were absolutely wonderful.  So great with the animals and the anxious humans as well.

So, posting was the last thing on my mind, but now here I am :)

I finished two books this week and had fewer blog tours than usual.  I'm looking to cut back on them in the upcoming months.  Hopefully I stick to that :)  Any blog tours you see here are ones I already committed to.

I'm still having so many problems with the new blogger.  It's taking twice as long for me to do everything I used to do quickly.   I guess it just takes time to get used to the new format, but I'm considering going to Wordpress.  I already have an account over there from trying to blog there years ago.  For all of you out there with Wordpress, did you originally have Blogger?  What was the changeover like?  For anyone who has worked with both Wordpress and Blogger, which do you feel is better or I should say easier to work with?

I hope you all have a great week...Take care and stay safe.

  2. So glad Cookie is better! I imagine you'll be watching her like a hawk though. Hopefully no more scares for awhile at least. The Kathryn Casey looks really good. I hope you're enjoying it. Have a much better and calming week!

  3. I’m also considering switching to Wordpress, but I’d probably have to pay someone to switch me over. My blogging situation is complicated. I had a Wordpress blog way back in the early 2000s. It has probably changed a lot since I last used it.

  4. I'm glad your kitty is feeling better and hope she continues to improve!

I blogged on Blogger from 2009 - 2016, took a break, then came back on WordPress in June. I had a really steep learning curve with WP. Not gonna lie, I regretted switching for a few weeks. Now that I'm used to it, I strongly prefer WP to Blogger as I knew it. I don't know how much changed in the 4 years I was gone though. It's somehow easier to respond to comments and I like that I get notifications when other WP bloggers respond to comments I left on their posts. I'm trying to get my content more organized and it's infinitely easier to do a quick edit to add, say, an author tag or replace an image. I also like tinkering with layouts and formatting and the other nuts and bolts of my site and the WP plugins make that so much easier than it was on Blogger.

    Enjoy your week!

  6. So many fantastic looking books. Sorry to hear about kitty troubles. Let's hope it was caught in the nick of time and he is one the mend for years to come. My Sunday Salon post

  7. I'm so glad your kitty is doing better. It's wonderful to have a doctor and a clinic you can trust with good care.

I use Wordpress with The Classics Club and all I can say is that Wordpress is also going through changes that make it more difficult to use. It is transitioning to a block format that is maddening to use. Why are Blogger and Wordpress making things more difficult? I think that is something we should ask them.

I find myself reading books that I want to read these days and not worrying so much about reading books that have limited appeal to me.

Glad you made it to the table this weekend. I wondered where you were.

  8. I hate the new Blogger too, but I'm way too lazy to try to figure out how to make the move, and I'm not sure I want to pay someone to do it for me. Ugh.

  9. Poor Cookie :( I’m glad she’s recovered.

If you have an old WP blog play around with it for a while and see how it feels before making a decision. I personally prefer WP over blogger, though I’m not all that keen on the new editor.

Wishing you a great reading week

  10. I'm sorry Cookie was not feeling well. And I hate software problems. Lots of people are having trouble with the new blogger. I use Wordpress but I'm not excited to switch to its new editor yet either.

  13. I’m sorry to hear about your kitty, hope she is feeling much better.

My blogger seems to have reverted to legacy, I’ve no idea why. The new blogger I’m going to stick with, it’s annoying but I keep hearing people complaining about Wordpress and it’s new update too. I wish they’d just leave alone!

  14. I'm glad your kitty is doing better. It's so hard when our babies start getting old. I switched to the new Blogger eary in the summer and now it feels like I've always used it.

  15. Poor Cookie! Do they know why? So scary. We had a pet emergency too a few weeks ago. Glad she's doing better, though.

I tried Word Press back about 10 years ago and I couldn't quite get a handle on it. The new Blogger is a learning curve but some things I like a lot better. Hang in there!

  17. So great there was an animal emergency place you could go to. I did switch from Blogger to WP and like WP very much, I just brought across all my posts but links of course would have needed fixing to work but I didn't bother. I like WP but have to admit I had had previous experience with it and so picked it up easily. The best thing I like over blogger is that commenting is much better, because when someone replies to me on a WP blog I get it in my email. I know blogger has the notify me button but i never use that because I don't want every comment that comes in on that post!

  18. I'm so glad that your kitty is okay! I know how agonizing it can be when a furry friend is sick.
