First Chapter, First Paragraph, Tuesday Intros/Teaser Tuesdays - June 8th

It's Tuesday!  It's time to share your excerpts and teasers from books we are currently reading, have read or are planning to read.  So, feel free to join us by sharing the first paragraph or (a few) of a book you are reading or thinking about reading soon.  This meme is guaranteed to increase your TBR :)

Please link your blog post using Mr. Linky below. Make sure the link you enter is the direct link to your Tuesday post, not the main link to your blog. Thank you!

I, also, participate and link up to Teaser Tuesdays.  Here's info about that meme:

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, now being hosted by Ambrosia at The Purple Booker. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current read

* Open to a random page

* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This is a re-release of a book I read a couple of years ago and loved.  Another publisher has taken it over and it's been revised.  I'm going to re-read it and hope the series continues. The excerpts are from the E-ARC.

First Chapter...

"Excuse me.  Do you have any Tomkins Hairball Remedy?"

I glanced up from the pile of catnip balls I'd been sorting and smiled at the short gray-haired woman who stood uncertainly at my counter.

Teaser...

Besides, I'd always harbored a secret desire to be a veterinarian.  Managing a pet store seemed like the next best thing.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Shell McMillan and her furry sidekicks aren’t kitten around when they set out to catch a killer . . .

When her TV series is canceled, struggling actress Shell McMillan considers it a blessing in disguise. A beloved aunt who recently died left her a pet shop in her will, and she sees it as the perfect chance to walk away from Hollywood and make a fresh start in the sleepy town of Fox Hollow.

But adjusting to small-town life won’t be easy, as Shell realizes when the head of the museum board is found murdered not long after Shell had a very public argument with her. And when the new kid in town is fingered for the crime, she’ll have to rely on her own wit and pluck and the kindness of strangers to get herself off the hook.

Desperate to exonerate herself and catch the real culprit, Shell begins digging into the lives of the local residents, and she quickly discovers that the victim had no shortage of enemies. As the suspect list grows and time runs short, Shell and her cats will have to claw their way out of danger—and it’s meow or never . . .

Note: This is a fully revised version of a book originally published in 2019

What do you think? Would you keep reading?

  5. That is interesting the book has been completely revised. It's probably a bit too cozy for me but sure to be a hit for mystery lovers and especially those who have kitties!

  6. Sketter went right to work and slapped me across the mouth with a swift backhand that sent me to my knees, tasting blood in my mouth.

"I heard a rumor you called me something bad, McCall," Skeeter crowed. "I wanted to see if you had the guts to call me that to my face."

    Beach Music by Pat Conroy.

Yes I would read that book.

    Have a fabulous day. ♥
