The Weekend Review - June 26th-28th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

We had a rainy and humid week, which meant I stayed close to the a/c with very little walking.  Nothing much has really been going on here.  It's been quiet.

The TV season has finally ended for me with The Blacklist having their season finale this past week.  It was a good one.  I'll still be trying to watch a few Netflix or Amazon Prime shows but I seem to be leaning more towards reading.

Although I was going to limit my review blog tours, I keep getting requests for some books I couldn't resist.  You'll see them below.  I do love the suspense/thriller/mystery books and everything sounded so tempting.  The good thing is that these tours are all spread out through January.  So, it looks like a lot but I'll have time for other books.

I finished two books this week, although not the scheduled book I planned.  I'll read that one this week, which looks good too.  Sometimes I just don't follow my own schedule.  LOL  Sometimes reading depends on my mood :)

As usual, I picked up some freebies to add to my collection.  I have no idea when I'll get around to actually reading them, but they looked so good.

What's been going on in your corner of the world?  Anything exciting or new happening?  I hope you all have a great week!

  1. The weather sounds miserable but at least it allowed for a lot of reading! Hope you enjoy all the books you received, it sucks to get a book to review and then not enjoy it. Have a great week!

  2. It has been humid here in the UK too, until we had a whole night of rain on Thursday... just as we were doing a camp out on the school field with our pupils! Thankfully they were all safely tucked in their tents before it began. 😅 Take care, happy reading and good luck catching up with your reading schedule 😉

  4. I just love it when some weeks are just kinda quiet. I've met with some friends this week and had dinner but it's just nice to enjoy some time together and not having to discuss huge and shocking things. Life is just good :)

Hopefully your upcoming week will be a bit less humid! Have a great one.

  6. It's supposed to be rainy here this week, too. You are right: rain means more time to read.

I think you are doing great with blog tours. I used to love getting new books in the mail, but now I want to read what I want to read. I'm definitely a mood reader, too.

    Have a great week, Yvonne!

  12. It's hot here, too. We are staying indoors with A/C, turning off lights, and trying to limit our activity. Enjoy your reading projects. My Sunday Salon post

  14. Our Sunday binge has been Sweet Tooth. Here in Southern New Mexico we finally got some rain and temps are well below 100 for the first time in weeks! I'm so grateful! Many of your books sound quite interesting! Thank you for sharing them. I'm also popping in to visit Sunday Salon in a bit. So glad I found your blog!

  16. One of the reason I stopped doing blog tours was because I was too tempted by the offerings! At least it sounds like you still have plenty of time for your own reading! - Melinda @ A Web of Stories

  17. It is hard to turn away from blog tours with books you so want to read, so tempting for sure.

  18. I haven't done blog tours for years even though I keep getting invitations. I'm getting to be such a picky reader that I don't want to take chances on a review book. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  19. It's rainy here to but coming from hot summer, it feels nicer and cooler thankfully. I need to catch up with Blacklist! I'm watching Netflix almost all day if I'm free these days lol.
But How to Win a Surgeon's Heart, He's Cancelled, Death in Castle Dark and so many look like my kind of reads lol, I'm going goodreads right now! Thank you for sharing!
Check out my Monday post here! :)

  20. Cue me going to see if Cupcakes and Conjures is still free. Kitties and magic, yess!

  21. It has been rainy all week here too (except for Monday, thankfully), and is supposed to be rainy all this coming week as well. If only I could enjoy it with some books!

I admire your interest in reading over TV. I've felt so busy and chaotic lately that any "off" time I get is immediately going to TV or social media, neither of which typically makes me feel as accomplished as reading after the fact.

Happy reading! I hope you enjoy your book tour selections and your own choices!

  22. I keep meaning to limit my review books but then interesting ones come out that I can't resist! I really liked the first couple of seasons of Blacklist but never watched any more. Have a great week!
