The Weekend Review - July 17-19th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

It's been another quiet week for me.  I'm glad about that.  I don't need any extra drama 😀  I'm so disappointed to see the Covid case and hospitalization numbers going up.  Our area hasn't changed any of the Covid precautions so we just take care of our own precautions.

I did manage to complete two books which were good.  I've been watching HGTV and I'm enjoying that.  I did start watching a new show called Dr. Death with Joshua Jackson on the Peacock channel.  It's really good and kind of scary.

Like I said, it's been pretty quiet here and nothing new to report.  How was your week?  Read or see anything new?  I hope you have a great week!  Stay safe everyone!

  1. It is sad to see the Covid cases going up again. I saw that LA County (?) in CA was recommending masking again. I guess there will be waves before this is over. We're still being careful too...

I love the look of your thrillers. I added deadly Summer Nights...

  2. Awww sorry to hear about the COVID numbers going up. Feels like it's happening a lot of places thanks to Delta. Hope you have a great week!

  3. Hi there Yvonne! Looking at all your lovely kitty books, I've just realized that I need to do an update on my reading challenges so far this year! I actually have no idea what's happening at the moment.

Your review for The Ghost Camper's Tall Tales were lovely, I need to start reading it.

    Have a good week ahead!

  4. I am glad you are still taking your own precautions, as sometimes the states don't do enough, IMO.

Your books look good...I am in the mood for some cozies and other mysteries, and love the look of My Darling Husband.

    Here are my WEEKLY UPDATES

  5. I'm not sure if cases are going up here in my part of the world. Since I've just recently heard of four people I know hospitalized because of Covid (all unvaccinated) I suspect that they are.

I'm curious about your current audio book. It looks like it is perfect for summer.

Lots of books featuring cats on your shelves. It was a good thing when cats became detectives, I think.

  6. It’s sensible given how contagious Delta is to continue to play it safe.
Dr Death seems to be popular.

Wishing you a great reading week

  7. You've got some great upcoming books! I've got some of those on my TBR stack. I'm looking forward to reading a few cozy mysteries again.

Covid is on the rise in a few counties southeast of us (the Ozarks). It's really hitting those areas with low vax rates. We were planning a road trip to northern Arkansas this summer, but now we're going to wait until fall. Hopefully things improve!

Have a great week! Check out my weekly wrap-up post HERE! — Diana

  8. I'm so frustrated - and also unsurprised - to see COVID case numbers going back up. What did people think was going to happen, with a far more contagious variant, all restrictions off in most states, and a lot of folks still unvaccinated? SMH... I think the fall and winter are going to be brutal.

Love the cover of The Seahorse Cottage! And the Vicki Delany and Veronica Bond mysteries look enticing.

  9. Covid numbers are climbing again here too but the UK government is pushing ahead with removing all restrictions... It's going to get messy! As you said, we just have to take our own precautions.

Hope you have a good week!

  10. Great book covers!

It's sad that right when we thought Covid was getting under control that the numbers started to climb again. Thankfully I never stopped wearing a mask.

I hope you have a great week!

  11. The wildest part of Dr. Death is that it is a true story! Ridiculous how hard it was to stop him from 'practicing' medicine. The podcast was very good and I think the show does the podcast justice. I'm reading The Camper Tales this week too. It's a fun fanciful series! Have a great week!

  12. One of our local restaurants is currently shut down due to an employee with Covid and I saw a local post of someone on NextDoor who has a daughter hospitalized in Little Rock with the Deta variant. Sigh.

  13. Looks like some great books! Unfortunately I live in a state that has been on the news for how bad the Covid cases have gone up. I wish people could have been more careful, I'm guessing we might be back to masking up when school starts, and I'm not looking forward to that. Oh well. That's the world we live in I guess! Have a good week.

  14. It's a shame that COVID numbers are still going up despite the fact that we have a vaccine out. I hope things get better soon.

  15. Seahorse Cottage looks like a nice getaway place. Enjoy.

  16. I like Joshua Jackson, I will have to check that out. Most people near me don't wear masks anymore, but we still do even though we are vaccinated. XO

  17. We are staying home because Will's immune system is so tanked right now but all the Covid reports make me want to stay home regardless because he won't be able to be vaccinated for a little while long (and the vaccine isn't as effective in his situation). I have Death in Castle Dark coming up on my reading list and am so looking forward to it! Have a great week!

  18. Yikes Covid is not going away fast. I fear for the Olympics people. Strange they went ahead. All your books look like good reading. Love the cover of A Spell of Murder.

  19. I just wish folk would get their freaking shots!

  20. Sounds like COVID cases are up in a lot of places. Makes me wonder if traveling will become limited again.

You have such a great group of books this week. Familiar Kitten Mysteries looks so cute.

    Hope you enjoy your books.

  22. Cases are rising here among the unvaccinated too. Like my brother says, "You can't fix stupid." Free and readily available vaccines and people still won't get them! Nice looking assortment of books. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
