Book Beginnings on Fridays/The Friday 56 - March 18th

This is a fun meme to do hosted by Freda's Voice. If you'd like to join on the fun go to The Friday 56.

*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader.
*Find any sentence that grabs you.
*Post it.
*Link it here.

It's that simple.

I'm also joining in Book Beginnings on Friday. It's hosted by Rose City Reader

I hope to start reading this one soon.  The excerpts are from the E-ARC.

First Chapter

Part One

Ten sessions might not seem like nearly enough time to solve complex therapeutic issues, but according to Avery Chambers, her unique brand of intensive short-term counseling changes lives.  Her highly controversial process which some decry as dangerous, is predicated on amplifying core universal emotions such as fear, anger, sadness, and happiness...

Marissa has no one else.

If only her parents lived nearby, Marissa thinks, or if she had a close friend to call for help.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

The next electrifying novel from the #1 New York Times bestselling author duo behind The Wife Between Us.

Wealthy Washington suburbanites Marissa and Matthew Bishop seem to have it all—until Marissa is unfaithful. Beneath their veneer of perfection is a relationship riven by work and a lack of intimacy. She wants to repair things for the sake of their eight-year-old son and because she loves her husband. Enter Avery Chambers.

Avery is a therapist who lost her professional license. Still, it doesn’t stop her from counseling those in crisis, though they have to adhere to her unorthodox methods. And the Bishops are desperate.

When they glide through Avery’s door and Marissa reveals her infidelity, all three are set on a collision course. Because the biggest secrets in the room are still hidden, and it’s no longer simply a marriage that’s in danger.

What do you think?  What are you sharing today?

  1. I read The Wife Between Us, and I liked it. The Golden Couple looks like another good one. Have a great weekend!

  2. That opening makes me not want to trust the therapist, for better or worse. The description sounds very intriguing. I hope you enjoy when you get to it.

  3. Sounds intense, but it does catch the eye and make me want to look into it further.

  4. That sounds good. 10 sessions would be a lot better than the 12 years I have been going to a therapist to avoid becoming a cat hoarder. :) XO

  5. I LOVED this book! I hope you enjoy it. Here's my link: “NINE LIVES”

  6. I've heard great things about this book! Happy weekend!

  7. I hope you enjoy and have a great weekend.

  8. I've read a book by this writing team and enjoyed it so this one has me curious. The beginning really caught my attention.
