The Weekend Review - October 1st-3rd

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

I hope everyone who was in the path of Hurricane Ian are okay.  We lucked out in my part of Florida.  We had heavy rains and wind, but it never turned to a hurricane here.  We had tropical storm and tornado warnings.  There were a couple of tornados that hit not far from here but nothing like that here.

Some areas have been truly devastated.  My hearts and prayers are with all those effected by this horrible storm.

As far as my week goes, I finished two books, and both were really good.  I'm even lucking out as far as my reading goes. I've been reading so many good books.  For now, I have no blog tours scheduled for October, but I have a bunch of NetGalley and Edelweiss books to read.  A couple are Christmas books already.  A bit early but they start publishing them in October.

I'm still enjoying the new TV season of some of my favorites - The Resident, New Amsterdam, Survivor, 911, Chicago PD, Fire and Med.

Not much else is going on here. Now that the hurricane and tropical storms are gone, the weather is really nice, but hurricane season isn't over yet.  I'll just enjoy the nice weather as we get it.

I hope you all are safe and having a great weekend!

  1. Glad the hurricane missed you. I wasn't sure where in Florida you were, but I was thinking of you.

  2. I'm glad to hear you were spared from the hurricane, the images really are terrifying! And yay for a good book-streak! I've also lucked out on my reading lately, although I am struggling with a book I'm reading at the moment. I hope you have a good start to the week :)

  3. Glad that you are all ok. The weather has been on our news over here in the UK. It looked horrendous. We have family on holiday over there.

A good looking haul of books.

    Have a good week.

  5. Glad you escaped the wrath of Ian and just got milder storms. We canceled our trip to NE Florida exas i think they will have to deal with floods and its aftermath for a while.

  6. I'm glad that the Hurricane storms are gone. Such devastation and now with the Indonesia stampede. Its a lot to take in. Interesting story, I've had a lot of real estate agents call me about my grandma's house in Florida and now I just have fun with them on phone.

  7. Glad the hurricane wasn't too bad in your area. We've had some rain from it here in Maryland, but nothing major. I think it's getting more and more common to start Christmas celebrations (via books and movies) in October. Hallmark starts their Christmas movies this month. I just wish they were as enthusiastic about making more mysteries (although I can't really complain about that since I have so many of them to catch up on). :-)

  8. Glad your part of the hurricane was only rain! Once again looks like a good reading week for you. I love it when it works out to be GOOD books too! Hope your streak continues. I have a few Netgalley's stacked up too.....

  9. Glad to hear you were safe from the hurricane - everything I'm seeing about it is heartbreaking :(
I am at least a season behind on everything TV wise, I really need to start catching up before it becomes overwhelming.

  11. Glad you escaped the worst of it. It sounds so horrible in the areas that were hit hard.

I've heard great things about the Resident. My mom schedules her Tuesday evenings around it

I saw Christmas decorations at the mall yesterday :)

  17. I'm so glad you were able to escape the worst of the hurricane though I'm sure it was still so stressful. I have the Diane Kelly book to read coming up and am really looking forward to it. I really enjoyed the first one. Have a great week!

  18. I am glad you weren't impacted by Ian. It's so hard to see the devastation in Florida. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone. I'm hoping our Realtor community will be providing help with recovery efforts.

Love seeing Christmas and winter books coming out. Hope you enjoy all your books.

  19. Ian was originally meant to head north to the Panhandle (where i am) but shifted several times. We were fortunate and I feel bad for the Ft Myers area. What a nightmare. Glad you didn't have too much storm damage.

  20. I'm glad the hurricane missed you. I have a friend who lives on Sanibel Island, but he and his wife are traveling in Europe right now. He hasn't said anything about damage. I'm glad your reading is going well. I read A Christmas Candy Killing too. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  21. Great Ian didn't come too near you, a worry though I bet. Good to hear reading has been good, its what we all want from our books!

  22. I'm glad you fared well during Ian. I'm so sad for the people affected by the storm. My sister and her boys lived through several hurricanes when she lived in Houston. Her boys were still there when Harvey made landfall and they were right in the middle of all the flooding. I wish there were better ways to prepare and deal with hurricanes.

I hope you have a good week!

  23. I've very glad Hurricane Ian didn't cause you harm. I've seen far too many hurricanes in my life. I wish no one had to experience them.
