The Weekend Review - March 16th-18th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to Stacking the Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all those celebrating!

I managed to finish two books this week.  Both were good ones.  As for my TV watching, I'm still enjoying Survivor.  I, also, watched the movie Poor Things with Emma Stone.  She was great in it.  The movie was a little strange, though, but good.

Does anyone else get into a mood where they just don't feel like writing a review?  It's not because the book is bad or anything like that, I'm just procrastinating and want to get to the next book.

There's not much going on around here.  Just another quiet Sunday.  Hope you all have a great week!

I finished reading ...

These books are still on my list for the rest of March.  I'm sure there will be some carryovers to April.

Here is this week's Kindle freebie haul. They were freebies when I got them, I don't know if they still are. Always make sure to check they are still free before buying. The prices change quickly.

  1. I tend to wait until I've read 2 or 3 books and then do short review posts - it seems to work for me. Have a great week. :)

  2. I've started giving myself permission to skip a review or to write a tiny, one or two sentence review. Why not? I think.

    Happy St. Patrick's Day!

  3. I am bad at writing reviews as you can tell by my blog! I do more on my booktube channel these days.
Glad to see you got to get in some reading, hope that means you are doing well!

Have a great week and happy reading!

  4. I never feel like writing reviews. I've written nearly 1000 of them since I started my blog, and I'm kind of over it. I hope you have a great week!

  5. So many good looking books on this post!

I always worry that I won't have anything to say. I do get distracted when I am writing reviews too 🤣

Have a great week next week!

  6. The "not in the mood to review" thing? Oh, all the time! And then I'll go through a week or two when I write several. But I tend to spend way too much time perfecting my reviews, and they are usually pretty long. I wish I were better at shorter reviews.

Have a good week, and enjoy your new books—especially the Lynn Cahoon. I am a bit behind on that series.

  7. I struggle to write reviews on books that are just Meh. I just want to move on, LOL! Have a great week!

  8. There are some books that I do find difficult to write reviews about - and it often doesn't have anything to do with their quality, but that I'm a bit undecided about the rating, or exactly how MUCH I like it... Have a great week, Yvonne:)).

  9. I want to see Poor Things. I definitely need to be in a certain mood to write a review and no matter what, mine are always short. XO

  10. I go through long periods where every review is a struggle and I just don't want to write anything. Mostly I end up writing a short sentence or two.

  11. Happy St. Pat's!

I totally get that way. Sometimes I'm just not feeling reviews.

I hope the Lisa Unger book is good. I think it looks fun. The Roller dErby book too.

  12. LOL Of course, I get in a mood where I don't want to write a review. Or where I don't want to read certain types of books. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

  14. I’ve been stuck on writing the same review for about 2 weeks, even though I really liked the book. It’s doing my head in!

Wishing you a happy reading week

  15. Your books all look good this week, Yvonne. Totally happens to me where I push off writing reviews because I'm not in the mood. Often happens when I've written a few in a row, which makes me feel like I have nothing new to say despite the books being different.

    Hope you enjoy your week.

  16. I've noted that my reviews are getting shorter and shorter. I feel like I say the same thing in each one. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  17. Sounds like a good reading week. Reviews are hard, I think we write too much in them, I try to be short but they seem to grow. I have to write them before I start the next book, otherwise I forget what I want to say.

  18. I hope you had a lovely St. Patrick's Day! I made stew and soda bread so it was a hit in my house.

Poor Things was very weird but overall I liked it. Not sure I'd watch that again but it was quite entertaining. Emma Stone very much deserved her Oscar!

The Couple in 58 looks really good. I hope you have a wonderful week!

  19. The New Couple in 5B looks really good and I have Rhythm and Clues coming up on my reading list. I've enjoyed the last two books and am looking forward to reading this one. I hope you're having a great week!
