The Weekend Review - November 9th-11th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to Stacking the Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

This week I've wanted to do nothing except escape into some good reading. I finished two books and caught up on some TV shows, too.

I will probably be leaving Twitter (X) because it's just too crazy over there.  Are any of you on Threads?  I think that's where I'll be.  If anyone wants to follow me, I'm under socratesbookreviews.  I'll follow you back.

The weather in Florida has been really nice and I've been able to sit outside and read.  That always makes me happy.

I hope you all have a good week.

Nothing scheduled!

Posts last week:

Monday:  Awww Monday

Tuesday:  Top Ten Tuesday

I'm currently reading...

I finished reading ...

This will be the next book on my schedule.  I'll be adding more as the weeks go on.  I'll probably be reading books that I missed in the last few weeks.

Here is this week's Kindle freebie haul.  They were freebies when I got them, I don't know if they still are. Always make sure to check they are still free before buying. The prices change quickly.

  1. I only use Twitter to post updates and avoid it. I love threads, insta and blue sky.

  2. A good looking haul.

Honestly my posts are being ignored on both Twitter and Threads. As in no one even sees them. I am not sure what is going on at the moment. It's getting a bit much on Instagram too at the moment.

Have a good rest of the week!

  3. I only ever use X to post about a Sunday Salon post weekly. Otherwise, I don't read or write there.

    Have a good week.

  4. It depends on how you feel about things if any of those other places are any good. They all seem to be pretty toxic. I just joined Tiktok and found Booktok to be very toxic right now.

Hope you have a great week and happy reading.

  5. I have retreated from most social media except for birthday greetings on FB and my blog. Too much hate out there!

    Have a good week, Yvonne!

  6. I autoshare my blog posts to Twitter but I don't go there much. I do use Threads Books_of_myheart. I'm also on Bluesky and Mastodon.

  7. Booked For Murder! What a catchy title. I am still trying to figure out how to emotionally navigate this new, disgusting reality.

  8. How was The Gardener's Plot? I'm very curious about it!

Here's hoping you find some good reads to escape into.

  9. I'm leaving X-Twitter, too. A friend of mine who is a retired IT guy was saying last year how there were things to delete before deleting an account, so X can't keep using your previous content/information. I'm going to ask him to run through those things again before I delete my account.

I'll follow you on Threads next time I'm on Instagram. The IG app for the Kindle is basically useless now and I have to be on my iPad for Instagram/Threads. I'm on my Kindle tablet most of the time, so I haven't been on IG much this last year, but now that I will have to use Threads I guess that will change.

Have a wonderful new week. ☺

  10. There is a lot of hate out there. Lack of tolerance for opposing views. Instagram is very frustrating for me, and I avoid it as much as possible, but sometimes go on just to see the grandkids.
Booked for Murder sounds like it might be good. Have you read any others by that author?

  11. I hate Twitter. They closed my acct for no reason. XO

  12. I explored Threads a year ago and didn't understand it. I should give it a better try. What a nightmarish week.

  13. Nice books this week. I am on Threads, but use it more for real estate than books. Hope you enjoy your week.

  14. Kerfuffle at the Border looks cute! And Twitter ( I refuse to call it X) is like a scary hate filled space.

  15. I mostly stay away from social media. I'm on Facebook which I mostly use as a portal for playing online games. I have an account at X which I almost never visit. My blog is pretty much it for me. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  16. Reading and viewing sounds good. Puck and Prejudice seems like it might be fun. Haven't been on Twitter (X) for years.

  17. I am stepping away from as much social media as possible - especially Twitter. Booked for Murder is on my upcoming reading list and I love the title of Kerfuffle at the Border! I hope you're having a great week.

Thank you for stopping by and visiting my blog! I always love reading comments and getting to know my readers!

After some careful consideration, I've decided to become an award-free blog. Although I appreciate and am honored by each and every award I've received, your comments and friendship are enough award for me. Thank you all so much for your thoughtfulness.

Due to way too many spam comments, I disabled the Anonymous User comments. We'll see if this works, otherwise I'll have to go back to word verification.
