Are obsessive fans or deadly secrets hidden within the dusty tomes?

As Luci, the newly appointed library owner, investigates what lurks between the shelves, fiction bleeds into the carpet.

My Review

Luci Mitchell is overwhelmed when she inherits her grandmother’s library.  To add to the craziness, she inherits a parrot named Simon.

As soon as she takes ownership of the library, she’s met with all kinds of trouble. An author signing, an obsessed fan, an employee who really doesn’t want to do anything, and a parrot who won’t stop talking.  First things first, she must learn all about how to host an author signing.

Things only get worse when during the signing the author collapses.  Luci realizes something suspicious is happening.  Thanks to her sidekick, Simon the parrot, they investigate on their own.

Luci and Simon make a great team.  The storyline moves at a fast pace.  I enjoyed trying to figure things out with Luci and Simon. It's very well written and the characters are well-developed.

This is a short prequel. There are two other books in the series, and I will definitely be reading those.  It's a charming, traditional mystery.  Just the way I like it.

It is a great introduction for me to both the series and this author.  Peyton Stone has gained another fan.
