My Review

Penny Hawthorne is the owner of a tea shop called Penny’s Potions in New England.  She’s known for her expertise in restorative botanical blends. She gets a phone call from a ski resort in the Swiss Alps looking for someone to create an exclusive blend.  Penny accepts the job, leaving her shop in the hands of her trusty assistant, Sophie.

Upon Penny’s arrival at the ski resort, she is mesmerized by the beauty of it.  She looks forward to starting her assignment. She creates a tea using rare aconite flowers. When a local mountaineer drinks the tea and suddenly dies, all eyes focus on Penny as the culprit.

Penny immediately jumps into action to prove her innocence.  With the help of a handsome British detective, Lucas Bennett, they discover the mountaineer wasn’t as well liked as they thought.

I’ve read several books by Fiona Grace and always enjoy them.  This one wasn’t a favorite, but it was a good classic mystery. Many potential suspects thrown into the mix and the author kept me guessing.

The description of the ski resort and the Swiss Alps brought me right there.  My one problem was there were too many tea puns throughout the book.  A couple are cute, but then it just became overdone.  It was getting to be distracting. There were a couple of slow spots, but then the story picked up.

Overall, a good solid start to a cozy mystery series.  I enjoyed it enough that I will read the next one.
