The Weekend Review - February 23rd-25th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now a Facebook group.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews.

Happy Weekend!

I'm still trying to juggle my schedule to include my new job.  As a result, I didn't even finish one book this week.  I'll keep trying though.  For now, the best thing for me is to not accept any new reviews, which is what I'm doing.  I'll catch up with myself eventually.

I'm reading a really good book right now called Healing Hearts.  It's not a genre I usually read (historical romance).  I used to love this genre, but in recent years have been more of a cozy mystery, thriller, suspense reader.  Anyway, I'm enjoying it.  Do you ever read out of your genre?  I'm thinking I should do it more often :)

Even my TV viewing has been suffering, but like I said, I will eventually catch up.  It just takes time for me to adjust to my new schedule.

The weather has been okay here.  We haven't been inundated with snow and the temperatures are getting warmer.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend.  Have a great week!

Yvonne

These books are coming up for reviews and/or blog tours in the next couple of months:

  1. Once I joined a challenge in which I read books from a variety of genres (Eclectic Reading Challenge)...and it was interesting. I didn't end up loving everything, of course.

I do try to mix up my few favorite genres, just to lighten the darkness from the thrillers.

Cozies are a nice mix of suspense and lightness.

  4. I used to read a lot of historical romance but fell away from it years ago. I've started trying the genre again and finding it just as enjoyable now. I hope things settle down for you soon and you find a happy routine that works.

  7. I have a number of genres I read but I do like to mix and match, otherwise can get burnt out on a genre, although I have my favs. Like the look of your historical romance.

  8. Good luck getting your schedule situated. The same thing happened to me. Just take one day at a time. It will all come together.

I read outside my usual genres every once in a while. Rarely am I disappointed.

Healing Hearts and Plantain Shudders sounds great. Beach Blanket Homicide looks cute. Enjoy your week.

  10. I read many genres and switch them up often. I think this may be why I never have a reading slump. I do get tired of some things and there are tropes I avoid. I love romance but I need real plot in the story so sometime I have to take a break from contemporary romance to read urban fantasy or some genre where there may be romance but it is a background plot. I hope you have a better reading week! Anne - Books of My Heart

  11. Good luck getting your schedule sorted! It always takes forever to kind of reach my equilibrium. I was a big historical romance reader but have gotten off it the last few years. Lately though I realized I've been missing it! Have a great week!
