The Weekend Review - August 17th-19th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews.

Happy Weekend!

We are still having lovely summer weather...sometimes it's better than others, of course.  We are already half way through August.  It's so hard to believe, but it's true.

I've been enjoying so many great books lately.  I discovered reading a Christmas book in the middle of summer wasn't a terrible thing.  I got so wrapped up in the story that I didn't even notice.

I haven't been watching much TV this summer, but that's okay.  I'm too busy enjoying my books.  The only things I've been watching are my soaps - Days of Our Lives and General Hospital.  Also, baseball.  I do love baseball :)

As for personally, I've been busy continuing to downsize.  I've been able to get rid of a lot of stuff but I still have more to go through.

Otherwise, it's been quiet here.  What has your week been like?

Yvonne

  1. Hard to believe mid- August already. I recently read a Christmas book too (it was one of those British Crime Classics) and it wasn't bad for a summer read! :)

I've read some of Julie Mulhern's other series but not that one.

Circle in the Sand looks fun!

  2. I see why you haven't watched much tv! And I understand completely. Who needs tv when you have all these wonderful books?

Fields' Guide to Abduction looks especially good.

I'm also with you on downsizing. We've been discarding and discarding and discarding. I had so much stuff from my job as librarian. And what do you do with 30 Clifford the Big Red Dogs?!

    Have a great week.

  5. Quiet weeks are good. I've a load of arc holiday books to read but I've been delaying reading them until at least autumn. Maybe I should do what you did and just dive in and see how it goes?

  6. We've been watching baseball here quite a bit too. I've been really enjoying it this year - probably because my team is doing not so bad. I'm about to start the Susan Wiggs. I love her books. Have a great week!

  9. We've had really hot weather this weekend, but I enjoyed eating out in cool restaurants with family.

I need to check out Julie Mulhern's other series...I just read Book 9 in her Country Club Murders series.

  11. Sounds like you are having an enjoyable summer. I like watching GH too but have to admit I'm finding it all rather redundant lately. I got sucked into You on Netflix this weekend and now can't wait to watch the last 3 episodes.

  14. I spy a couple of new cozies to check out. And I'm actually reading some Christmas books so I can draft my reviews ahead. It's always so hectic during the holidays.

  16. I'm behind with moving and going to Book Bonanza. I'm scrambling to catch up. It's still just a bit hotter here than I like and I want to do some yard work. I've been sorting / throwing and organizing daily with the move and now that I'm unpacking. It's hard work - good luck with your downsizing.

Have a lovely end of summer week and happy reading.
