The Weekend Review - October 29th-31st

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

Happy Halloween to all who celebrate!  I don't really do anything for Halloween, but I know many have fun with it.

I've been away for the last two Sundays.  We were on vacation - went on a cruise to Aruba and Curacao.  We had a great time. Now it's back to reality.  This week I have my endoscopy and colonoscopy which I'm not looking forward to but they are a necessity.

Since my last Weekend Review, I finished three books and I'm halfway through my current read.  They've all been good reads.

It's that time of year where I start getting the reading challenges I host organized.  I plan to continue with the ones I always host - Cruisin' thru the Cozies, What An Animal Reading Challenge, The Purrfect Reading Challenge, and the NetGalley/Edelweiss Reading Challenge.  As for the ones I join...well, we'll see 😀 For now, I just want to get everything in order for the ones I host.

All my shows are back, and, thanks to my vacation, my DVR has a backlog of shows.  I've been slowly catching up, though.

So, what has your week been like?  Anything new going on?  Read or watch anything good?  I hope you all have a great week!

  1. Happy Halloween! Ooh your cruise sounds fun. Aruba is one of the places I want to get to yet. And I've been watching a lot too. Just started Deadwind on Netflix. It's a Finnish crime show and I've been eagerly awaiting S3. :)

    Have an awesome weekend!

  2. How's your luck with your Kindle freebies? Do you feel like most of them are worthwhile? I notice that many of the ones I pick up are short - under 300 pages. That doesn't bother me, it just somehow feels like that in-between place between a novella and a novel. Hope you have a terrific week and find time to enjoy a good book.

    1. Honestly, I haven't read most of them yet. LOL The ones I have read can be hit or miss but - for me - I prefer books under 300 pages. Some books are under 100 which is more like a novella. You have a great week too!

  8. Glad you had a nice vacation. I hope all goes well with your tests. The prep is harder than the actual colonoscopy. XO

  9. If that Marlowe Redesigned book is anything to do with fashion, I'll pick it up. I swear, I think I've read at least 10 of your book recs. Great job!

  10. So glad you'll be continuing with the Cruisin' Through the Cozies challenge. Since I only started reading cozies last year, I was new to the genre. Because of the challenge, I have discovered so many different themes within cozy mysteries. As far as what I'm watching goes, I've been binging on The Good Witch movies on Hallmark. I had only seen the first one before and I'm really enjoying the entire series. I won't finish all of them by Halloween, but that gives me something to look forward to for next year. I hope your procedures go smoothly and give you good results. :-)

  11. It Came Upon a Midnight Shear is a really good holiday cozy title. Colonoscopy is the worst big hugs to you for that!

  12. I'll have to keep an eye out for your NetGalley/Edelweiss challenge! And thank you for the reminder; I need to organize The Backlist Reader Challenge for 2023.

I hope you have a good Halloween and a great start to November!

  14. I'm glad you had a good time on your vacation! I've always wanted to go on a cruise. :D

We don't really celebrate Halloween either. We used to, but not since COVID. We do still buy candy for ourselves, though.

  15. Your holiday to Aruba and Curacao sounds fantastic. I'm imagining some gloriously warm weather and lots of sunshine, and that sounds great after several days of rain and cold here.

I'm glad you are planning to continue to host the challenges you host. I know that many people are grateful to you.
