This week I'm joining in Book Beginnings on Friday. It's hosted by Rose City Reader. This is where we post the beginning of the books we are reading or will be reading.

I'm also joining in for the Friday 56.
Freda at Freda's Voice started and hosted The Friday 56 for a long, long time. She is taking a break and Anne at My Head if Full of Books has taken on hosting duties in her absence. Please visit Anne's blog and link to your Friday 56 post.

"Does my bum look big in this?" Hazel asked as she tied the elaborate bustle cage securely around her waist, it's addition a self-evident response to her question.
Synopsis from Goodreads:
Belinda Lawrence and Hazel Whitby are about to embark on an exhilarating adventure through the stunning landscapes of France, following in the footsteps of literary giants Edith Wharton and Henry James.
What begins as a charming escapade soon takes a harrowing turn when a series of murders shatter the tranquility of their group. A palpable sense of tension hangs in the air, as suspicion begins to swirl like the autumn leaves around them. Each member of this seemingly innocent band becomes a potential suspect, and uncertainty seeps into the minds of the amateur sleuths.
As they delve deeper into the labyrinth of clues, they discover the truth is ensnared within a complex web of deception, fueled by the darker human emotions of greed and jealousy. This thrilling journey serves as an unsettling reminder of how easily the lines between life and art, excitement and danger can blur—transforming a leisurely exploration into a chilling mystery.
What do you think? What are you sharing today?
The cover and the quotes seem to be at odds. I'd say from the quote about the bum that the book is humorous, but the cover makes it look creepy.
ReplyDeleteI suppose 'Does my bum look big in this?' used to carry a different connotation lol.
ReplyDeleteThat looks different in a good way. :)
