About the Book
Synopsis from Goodreads:
"If ever I need my spirit lifted, I know to read what Detective Whiskers is investigating."
The world-famous (but anonymous) graffiti artist Barksy creates a new piece of art at the Parrot Eyes Inn but the excitement is dampened by the discovery of two dead bodies—one in the parking lot and one alone inside a locked hotel room. As if that’s not enough, Detective Whiskers is being stalked by a strange orange tabby cat who seems to know something about the deaths. Throw in a sexy Scotsman with an eye for Sheila and things in Paradise Cove have never been wilder.
Nobody knows why the charming small town of Paradise Cove was chosen by such a famous street artist. As puzzling as that is, the real suspense is about the murder victims and whether or not one of them might be the elusive celebrity. The amateur detective ladies of the Paradise Cove Murder Society and our crime solving cat have their hands full in this fast-paced page-turner.
If you’re looking for a light-hearted and humorous whodunit with quirky characters, animals, and an intriguing plot, National Cat Investigative Society is the book you need!
This book is a three to four hour read and contains no cursing, sexual content, or graphic violence.
My Review
Things in Paradise Cove, Florida are going crazy. First, someone has drawn graffiti on the wall outside the Paradise Eyes Inn. The head of the town’s HOA is demanding it be removed. However, it’s a beautiful piece of artwork designed by a famous artist, Barksy.
Sheila isn’t letting any artwork be removed, but she’s also busy with a guest who is making his interest in her known. This could be the first love interest since her husband passed away. Meanwhile, Detective Whiskers is being followed by a strange orange cat. He has his paws full with trying to keep tabs on the cat while making sure Sheila is okay with her new beau.
Then, two dead bodies are discovered. Sheila and Detective Whiskers’ attention are drawn to the new mysteries surrounding their inn.
This is a fun series that I always love to read. Detective Whiskers and his fellow animal sleuths are always fun. The human adults are great, too, but nothing beats the antics of Whiskers and his friends.
The animals do not verbally communicate with their humans, but their conversations amongst themselves are funny. The storyline is fast-paced and it’s a quick read.
This is the 8th book in the series. I always enjoy my visits to Paradise Cove and I look forward to the 9th book in the series. Hint: Do yourself a favor and start this series from book #1. It gives you a chance to get to know the characters. It makes for a great binge-reading series.
