First Chapter Tuesday/Teaser Tuesday - January 8th

Every Tuesday Vicki at I'd Rather Be At the Beach hosts First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros, where we share the first paragraph or (a few) of a book we are reading or thinking about reading soon. Care to join us?

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, now being hosted by Ambrosia at The Purple Booker. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

I'm reading this one this week. These are from the E-ARC.

First Chapter...

The piercing sound of the phone startled Celia Ewing awake.  With a feeling of dread, she fumbled for her cell on the night table.

"Celia."  A female voice squeaked like a trapped mouse.

"Marcy?  What's going on?"  Celia propped herself up on an elbow and checked on her nightstand.  It was nearly 3:00 a.m.

Teaser...

"My new friends are zany but are straight shooters and caring.  I love them," Celia had explained to her daughter, Allison, during one of their many awkward calls.

What do you think? Would you keep reading?

  1. Oh, I hate middle of the night calls! But I would definitely keep reading to find out more. Here's mine: “THE WINTER SISTER”

  2. So, I'm wondering if this one is dual timeline - those dancers on the front seem pretty 'vintage', but there is a cell phone - not 'vintage'. I'd continue on and I'll look for more info about this one. :-)

    1. It's not told in dual timelines. It's all set in present time. The cover does look vintage though.

  4. I would have passed on this book based on the cover, but am intrigued by the opening.

  5. I'd keep going with this one. Stories that start with middle of the night phone calls are always intriguing.

It looks like I'm going to finally be able to comment on your blog. I've been trying for over a month but Google has kept me out. I was able ro find an email address for you to let you know. Hopefully this is fixed for good.

    1. Glad you are able to comment again. I don't remember getting an email from you, though, but I'm glad the problem is solved.

Thank you for stopping by and visiting my blog! I always love reading comments and getting to know my readers!

After some careful consideration, I've decided to become an award-free blog. Although I appreciate and am honored by each and every award I've received, your comments and friendship are enough award for me. Thank you all so much for your thoughtfulness.

Due to way too many spam comments, I disabled the Anonymous User comments. We'll see if this works, otherwise I'll have to go back to word verification.
