When a black cat crosses Alice Adelcraft’s path, her luck changes, as does her worldview, especially when she stumbles into A Witch’s Thrift Shop. The merchandise is mysterious, the customers are curious, and the sign on the door reads: Shoplifters will be hexed. It might all be a joke, but the body of a witch outside proves someone was dead serious. Can Alice discover who killed the witch before the magical community discovers she isn’t one of them?

My Review

Alice Adelcraft is a regular person…she has no special powers or anything like that. She works in an antique shop, but things turn magical when she follows a black cat. She discovers a whole street dedicated to magic as well as a dead body. When a young teen is accused of the murder, Alice is determined to find the real killer. She is convinced the teen is innocent, even though no one else thinks so.

Paranormal cozy mysteries aren’t usually my genre but I was fascinated when I read the description. I had to give it a try and I’m glad I did.

This story is filled with quirky characters and an intriguing plot. I was captivated with this one from the start. It’s a short read and can be read in a day. It features an explosive and magical ending. I don’t want to give anything away, but it has a cat and I was a happy camper. I’m looking forward to the next one.

  1. Thank you for your review of Mysterious Merchandise. There's plenty more action to come in Book 2, which will be out soon as a preorder.

  2. I'm iffy on paranormal cozies too but this one really appeals to me. It sounds like a good mix between "normal" and paranormal.
