The Weekend Review - July 18th - 20th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews.

Happy Weekend Everyone!

This is such a weird year (thanks Coronavirus!), but it's already the middle of the summer.  What happened to Spring?  With the continual lockdown, it just feels like everyday is the same as the last.  I've had a few review requests for Halloween and Christmas books, which surprised me.  I thought it was too early, but time has no meaning anymore.  LOL

Anyway, I did manage to finish three books this week which is good.  I hope my reading continues this way.  Since the lockdown, I find some days are harder to concentrate on books than others.  There seems to be no real reason for this so I just go with however I feel that day.

I'm still not watching much TV these days.  I haven't even been paying much attention to Netflix.  I'm also a baseball fan and happy to see baseball is coming back this week.

Other than that, I'm pretty much the same as always - in lockdown and reading.  Hope you are all doing well and reading/watching many great things!

Have a good week!

  1. Hi there Yvonne! Geesh, 3 books this week! That's amazing.

Yes, this year truly is a strange one. We'll remember it for all eternity, that I can guarantee.

You have a few lovely books lined up for review and blog tour. Good luck!

Have a good week, here's my The Sunday Post

  2. You are right. It feels like we are in a timeless space. I make a point of changing my calendar every day and thinking what day it is. Otherwise I would forget.

My reading is very odd. I'm reading lots of books, but I'm not enjoying them as I did in the past. I'm reading a few books slowly and those I am enjoying. Odd. I'm glad to see you finished three books.

I hope you have a good week!

  3. Your books look good. I need to add more cozies to my shelves. I am thinking of buying some in paperback and hardcover (I have a couple already), as I have been lending some books out and then chatting about them with other residents. Not a real book club, a more socially distanced chat. LOL.

Enjoy your week, and stay safe.

  5. I am reading quite hard at the moment as well - and writing, which is a lifesaver right now... You're right about the days somehow blurring into one another. I hope the coming week is full of books you can get lost in, Yvonne:)

  9. Yeah, lockdown is tough because every day is the same and there’s not much to look forward to. At least I get to go hiking a few times a month. Have a great week!

  10. Oh, corona time... I've been thinking a lot about Holloween already and now I'm wondering when will be too early to put up my Christmas tree...

  11. You have some great books lined up there. I am looking forward to the Susan Mallery book. I think it is a common experience over the reading at lockdown time. I certainly experienced it when we were in lockdown and I've heard some authors say even their writing has been affected.

  12. Three books is a good reading week, especially seeing as there is so much going on.

  13. The days do tend to blur.

Wishing you a great reading week

  14. It has been a really strange year. With the delay in baseball season, it is hard to realize that it is really mid-summer already. I can't wait for real games to begin. One good thing is that I have discovered audiobooks and really enjoyed the ones I've listened to. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  15. I have no idea which way is up anymore! I walked out of the building today and it was 98 degrees so I'm guessing it's summer now but that's about the only way I keep track! I love the cover for Shadow Garden and Peachy Scream looks great! Hope you have a wonderful week!

  16. Your list looks good! I need to get more reading time in. Too much social media scrolling and time wasting going on here! It really doesn't feel like summer, except for the temperature. We're in the middle of a heat wave here in Massachusetts. The only good thing about going into work (the central air)! Well, and getting library books to people with curbside pickup. Everyone is so happy to get library books again!

  17. This past week is the first week in awhile that I could not quite figure out what day of the week it was every single day. Our governor finally mandated masks, but I think it's too little too late and people just go about their business like nothing has changed even though our numbers in all categories have been rising for a month :(
