The Weekend Review - July 3rd-5th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

Happy 4th of July for those celebrating in the U.S.  I'm not doing anything special.  Just staying home and trying to convince the furbabies that they are safe despite the loud noises we are expecting and are already hearing.

The week started out not so great with one of the kittens - Cookie - being sick.  She wasn't eating and really just staying in one place, not moving.  We took her to the vet where they did x-rays and bloodwork.  They didn't find anything wrong.  They thought she must have eaten something that didn't agree with her and to give it a day or so.  Well, the very next day Cookie was back to her old self.  She's fine...eating, playing... all is well, but we were nervous.

Then, we hear that we were in the "cone of uncertainty" for Hurricane Elsa.  It's been downgraded now to a Tropical Storm.  I think we'll probably have a lot of rain and wind at the beginning of next week, but it doesn't sound as bad as a hurricane.

As for reading, I only finished one book this week.  It was a good book, though.  No walking since it's just too hot out there for me to walk, which means no audiobooks again.

I'm not doing much TV watching but I've been become addicted to the HGTV channel and have been watching the show "Love It or List It".  A show where they do home makeovers or try to get the people to look at new houses.  I want someone to come here and do a makeover.  LOL

I do hope you all have a great week.  Stay safe!

  1. Your 4th of July sounds like it will be similar to ours. I imagine someone in the neighborhood will be setting of fireworks even though they are illegal here. I'm actually surprised we haven't heard more of them this past week because they always start early here too.

I am glad Cookie is doing better and that it wasn't anything serious. I am also glad the hurricane is now just a tropical storm. Hopefully the wind and rain won't be too bad.

We love Love It or List it in our house. We were addicted to it for awhile there and will sometimes still put it on when we want something on but aren't sure what to watch.

I hope you have a great week, Yvonne, and enjoy your reading! I'm looking forward to reading Much Ado About Nauticaling too.

  2. Sounds like a crazy week! I'm so glad Cookie is okay. These furbabies can scare us sometimes! I have Death in Castle Dark coming up on my reading list and I can't wait. I hope you have a wonderful week.

  3. I am always nervous when there is a storm out in the Gulf. I get crazy when it looks like the storm is coming our way. I'm glad Elsa is sputtering out.

The only way we get to walk these days is to head out of the house in the early morning. You are right...it's too hot otherwise.

I hope you enjoy your books!

  5. You have so many tempting books! Adding some to my list, like My Darling Husband.

I used to watch HGTV all the time! Maybe I should start again. It is so much fun!

Have a great week, and here are my WEEKLY UPDATES

  6. Urg! It's always horrible when pets or small children get sick, as they often can't tell you properly what is wrong... Glad to hear your kitten bounced back. Yes - perhaps it's because I'm getting older, but on Fireworks Night, I tend to roll my eyes and turn up the TV because it sounds like World War III is about to happen! I hope you have an enjoyable day and a great reading week, Yvonne:).

  7. Glad the kitty was okay in the end and a relief about the storm. Tropical storms aren't much fun either but better than a hurricane for sure.

  8. It's so hard when our furbabies are sick! It's a relief when it is over that quickly, but still until we know and they are better, it is scary! Glad your kitten is okay. I'll be with family tonight, but my dogs are usually okay just sleeping in the house even with fireworks. I've got a camera on them this year though, so I can see while I'm gone if I want. Have a great week!

  11. So many great books featured today. I would love those cozies.

We are in the path of Elsa this week, too. Hopefully not a lot of flooding.

    Enjoy your week.

  13. Ah glad Cookie is okay, its a worry when they can't tell you. I enjoy watching Love it or List it - the English version and sometimes the Australian version. But not for awhile now. Happy reading. Hope the bad weather by passes you.

  15. I had a quiet 4th of July too. I listen to audiobooks while playing computer games and while I go walking. It's been too warm for the walking outdoors here too. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
