Synopsis from Goodreads:

She's getting more than she bargained for...

Loretta Hamilton has never owned one cat, let alone seven. But when her eccentric Aunt Ginger passes away, she leaves Loretta her prized cat sanctuary. Her aunt's dying wish is that the seven remaining felines are allowed to live out the rest of their days in comfort on the little farm.

Recently widowed and ready for a change, Loretta relocates to the town of Saint Wales, Florida to honor her aunt's wishes thinking how hard can it be to look after a few cats.

Only, the neighbors aren't exactly hospitable and several have been trying to shut down the sanctuary for years. Worse, someone is out to sabotage the farm by any possible means putting the cats and Loretta in danger. Not only that, a close friend of her aunt's doesn't believe Aunt Ginger died of natural causes.

Can Loretta settle into her new role as cat mom and protector while fending off the cat haters and a possible murderer?

My Review

Loretta Hamilton is definitely not a cat person.  Now that her Aunt Ginger passed away, she now has seven cats and a cat sanctuary to take care of.  She knows her aunt would have wanted her to stay there and make things work, but Loretta is a recent widow and isn’t sure what she wants to do.

She learns that there are developers that want to buy the land.  She considers the offer until threats are made and someone winds up dead.  Now, Loretta wants to find out what’s really going on before she makes any definitive decision.

This is a charming story filled with cats!  My favorite type of cozy mystery.  Even though she wasn’t originally a cat person, I did like Loretta right away and had no doubt the cats would win her over.  I was right 😀

It’s a quick read and the first in the author’s Cat Sanctuary Mystery series.  I hope there will be more.  I did get a prequel through the author’s newsletter but I haven’t read it yet.

The actors are well written and it’s a fast-paced mystery that keeps you guessing.  I didn’t get the culprit until Loretta did.

Fun, light-hearted cozy mystery.   A cat mystery always wins me over.
