The Weekend Review - June 18th-20th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there!

It's been hot and humid all week here with the air quality being at high levels.  That meant I was inside for most of the week.  The air is not helping my allergies and I'm coughing like crazy.  I figured it was best to stay inside.  You'd think I would be reading more inside but I only finished one book.  I'm not watching much TV so I guess my time is being spent on the computer...it's become a real time waster for me.  LOL  Although I have been listening and watching baseball, too.

I picked up a few more Kindle freebies.  Now to make time to read everything.  I noticed quite a few Christmas themed books being advertised.  I know all about Christmas in July but it's too soon for me.  I want to concentrate on beach reads...sun and sand 😀

I did watch a movie this week.  Firesetter.  It was good.  I haven't seen many other movies that I'm interested in lately.

Hopefully I get to read a little more this coming week.  So what have you been up to?  I hope everyone has a great week!

  1. Free is always a great price to pick up a book. Then, you can figure out a time to read the book. Only, maybe don't listen to me on this one since I have so many books I've bought (or gotten free) and never read.

  2. It's been warm here too after June started off kind of cool for us! We had a day where the AC could barely keep up! Anyway, hope you have a nice weekend!

  3. I have been ridiculous busy this week: working at school and youth club, getting and sending gifts for Father's Day and then a mini heatwave on Friday!

I hope you are to stay cool and comfortable in this heat, and protect your sinuses as best you can.

  7. Some good looking books there. I will have to keep an eye out for Christmas themed books. I first heard about Christmas in July last year during lockdown and am forcing my family to come round this year to "celebrate" it!!

The weather has been awfully hot here. I am sneezing like crazy!

Have a great weekend and week ahead!

  10. I haven't added any freebies for a long time, mostly because they often just languish on my Kindle. Sigh. I like the look of your picks, though.

I also seem to spend a lot of time on the computer...I like watching movies online.

    Have you seen GH lately?

  11. It's been super hot where I am too. Fortunately, I don't have to deal with humid very often. There really aren't a lot of movies right now that I'm interested in either. It's sad. :(

  12. We've had that same hot and muggy weather here. No fun! I'll never get through or even to most of my freebies, but I guess they're there if I want them! lol The computer and my phone seem to waste my time. Have a great week!

  13. Definitely too early for Christmas, but I wouldn't mind fall, my favorite season. I haven't heard of that movie. I will look it up. Have a great week. XO

  14. My husband has had terrible allergies this year. I'm sorry you've been suffering with them, too.

I'm definitely not ready to read Christmas stories right now. A big yes to sand and sun!

  15. The allergies have been rough this year! I was miserable most of spring than had a break that was just long enough to make me think they were done for a bit and now I'm down again! Sorry to hear they've been hitting you too. I really enjoyed the new Lynn Cahoon and hope you do too. Have a wonderful week!

  16. It is easy to see a week go by in a flash and amazing how much time can be spent on a computer - I know!

  17. Christmas in July has been a thing here for about 10 years. It gives us a chance to do the full on Christmas dinner when it's cold!

I got offered some Christmassy blog tours recently. It seems too early.

  18. Is that Firestarter, the new Stephen King adaption? I’d like to see that, I loved the book when I first read it as a teen.

Wishing you a great reading week, stay cool!

  19. I finally went to the doctor about my persistent cough. Now I'm resting indoors even though our heat isn't as excessive as many places. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  20. I'm right there with you, I don't like Christmas books unless it's December. I watched a movie that I loved and think you would too. If you want to check it out it's from 2000 and called My Dog Skip.

What kinds of time-wasting things are you doing on the computer?
