The Weekend Review - June 29-July 1st

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to Stacking the Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

It's hard to believe it's the last day of June already, but here we are.  Our weather has been typical for Florida's rainy season.  We alternate between sun and clouds, but the humidity is always there.

I only finished one book this week, but it was a good one.  I requested too many from NetGalley for July, but I'm cutting back so my schedule should be better for the rest of the year.  At least that's my plan but things never go as planned when it comes to my reading.

I haven't been watching much except baseball.  Oh, I started re-watching Outlander.  I originally stopped after a couple of seasons, but I'm going back to it.  It's good.  If the books weren't so long, I would read them.  I'm just not good with long books.

For anyone celebrating July 4th, do you have any plans?  I'm guessing we'll stay home and make sure the cats are calm.  The sound of fireworks is not their friend.

I hope you all have a great week.

  1. I hope you have a good 4th! I have to work that night. I just have to keep reminding myself to be patient when the umpteenth person calls complaining about fireworks lol

  2. I only have three ARCs for July, which is down from the huge number I had for June. I'm much happier with that.

  6. I often try to read too many books in too short of a time. But there are just so many good books that I want to experience!

We are on the last season of Northern Exposure. Not sure where we are going after that.

Good luck with your July reads!

  8. It's pretty hot and humid here in Virginia, too. Good for staying in and reading. We'll probably celebrate the 4th the way we usually do, by watching the concert and fireworks on PBS ("A Capitol Fourth").

  10. Yesterday I won Come Shell or High Water in a Goodreads giveaway. I've been wanting to read it, so I'm excited. Last night we had a pretty intense thunderstorm with lots of lighting. Fiona wasn't bothered by it at all. She slept through it. Bell wasn't bothered by it either. In fact, Bell went right up to the window and got really excited with each bolt of lightning. She acted like she wanted to go outside!! So I'm thinking they won't mind fireworks. I don't think they cared about them last year. They are not normal cats. Lol. :)

  15. I just really wanted some rain which we got some today so it will be cooler for 2 days and then hot again. But we hadn't had rain since June 4. I got some of the same freebies you did. We will just be trying to keep the dogs comfortable on the 4th.

  16. Your books always sound like so much fun. It is storming in NC right now, but the 4th of July should be nice. We will see fireworks in Manteo.

Hope you have a great week.
