Booking Through Thursday - Replay

This week's question...

Have you ever finished a book and loved it so much you went right back and started re-reading it again?

(And obviously, if so, we want titles!)

My answer...

Years ago, pre-huge TBR days, I used to go back and re-read a book I loved. These days I don't because I just have too many books reading for me to read at least once :) Plus, I also noticed books - for me - are never as good as the first time around. Maybe because I know the entire story already, I don't know. The ones I used to re-read, just never lived up to my original good feelings about them. It kind of ruins it. I'd much rather leave it that I loved a book and go on to the next one.

funny pictures - I haz a chin rest.

  1. I've read lots of books I want to re-read, but not right away! Usually, I try to find the writer's other books.

  2. I agree with you, I am not much of a re-reader, unless it if a few years later, and then I hardly ever re-read a book. I also agree with you that I have to many waiting to be read on my TBR pile.

In your comment did you mean "Waiting" or did you really mean you 'have too many books "reading" for me to read at least once'. Just wondering....

  3. Hi Yvonne,

When I was a child/teenager, I would re-read my books over and over, as there was never enough money for new books, except for birthdays and Christmas and it got to the stage where I would run out of reading material before the next family trip to the nearest library.

In my adulthood however, I have never re-read books, as there are just so many new authors and titles out there, that there just isn't time.

I never keep a book once I have read it, it is either passed on to family or friends, or donated to a charity shop. We do keep some of my husbands non-fiction books and our 'coffee table' books, but cannot see the point of hoarding fiction.

  5. Yes, I almost always find that the second time around isn't as good when it comes to reading. A book has to be really special to hold up to multiple readings, and not many are THAT special.

  6. I've only done this for very short books, not full length novels.
